Hey guys, great series. Normally I don’t drop in to opposing GDTs but just wanted to share a detail that was likely not caught on camera — after completing the handshake line, Bergeron went out of his way to find all 4 officials and shake their hands. He was the only player on either team to do so.

Bergy is an amazing hockey player and a better person. Sad to see him go out without another Cup if this is it.

Eh, so so team had a so so offseason followed up with a so so regular season topped off with a so so deadline.

End result a so so effort in their last game of the year.

Sucks, especially for Bergeron. Guy deserves better.

My hope is this finally gets Jacob’s out of his coffin long enough to clear out everyone at the top. My head says he’s probably thrilled with the 3 extra nights at the gate and nothing significant will change going forward

He didn’t want to ruffle . He did earlier in the season with Gryz and that’s when Bergy got pissed and had to have a talk with him. He didn’t have the control in the room that you might think. I think he liked some of those young players like Steen but he was handcuffed by either management or the leaders on the team.
Begy is not the coach yet and if any truth to this its just wrong. You reap what you sew and he was hired for what he knew and I never saw it this series.Sat a top 4 D man entire year for a guy he never trusted all year and then kept playing 2 plugs over a
good strong young players. They all should be fired ask me but whatever is decided fine ,2019 bought them that

The Big Smoke (unfortunately)
Just an all-around fantastic effort by everyone on this team against one of the top two or three favorites to win the cup. I am proud of all of them . Some of the hot takes against this team and it's management are absolutely ridiculous.
Really? You didn't see this happening since last summer? Also, everything that dogged them all year, last few years actually, was on full display today. They can't score, they can't clear, and they can't hit. If Pasta isn't lighting up the scoresheet or Marchand isn't singlehandedly dragging them across the finish line they simply can't win. "Good effort" sure. That's good enough is it?
End of an era. Time to blow it up and start over.

Chokey organization.

Makes me love and appreciate the one Cup I’ve seen in my lifetime all the more.

But rooting for this organization is one root canal after another.

The fact that they had Bergeron, Pastrnak, and Marchand locked up on the deals they had them on and failed to fill out the rest of the forward lines adequately year after year is a failure of inexcusable proportions.

Yep, 100%. There will always be a subset of fans who are just content that the team is regularly competitive. And I get that, if you're happy with that then good on you, sincerely. But IDK, I've wanted more out of this core, because they've been more than capable of it and it just hasn't been delivered. Is that greedy? Maybe. But you don't get players of the calibre of Bergeron, Chara, Rask etc. at the same time very often, so I feel you have to cash in as much as possible when you do. And that just hasn't happened.

The number one reason for that goes back to the way the Jacobs family runs this franchise. Regular profits before ultimate success. Been that way for 45 years. You can look at all of Sweeney's failings, and you'll find plenty, but in the end he's just doing what his bosses want - don't bet the house in any one season, always make sure you're keeping the pieces intact to keep the team competitive and playoff-bound.

Question now is, is one-and-done enough? First time they've exited this early since the years they missed altogether. Will that convince the Jacobs that change is needed, or are they content with that? Time will tell.

Welp, it’s been fun guys.

Was a good series overall, hurricanes have a ton of talent, and I think Boston playing them literally to the finals seconds is a tribute to the core Boston has had for the Bergeron years. Unfortunately Boston seemed to lack the killer instinct at times. Will be interesting to see what changes are made.

Thanks everyone for allowing me join in for the playoff run and being so welcoming. Wishing you guys a good offseason and hoping anaheim
Hits it out of the park with your 1st :). I’m sure I’ll stop by occasionally to check in on lindholm, eastern conference teams are easier for me to watch anyway.

And I’ll leave you with a GO YANKEES! 😈

Crossing sports, but you look at what the Seattle Seahawks did this off season trading Russell Wilson.

They saw their path was blocked and punted away.

Sometimes you have to make the long play.
And that's why I would move Brad, It's a business and if #37 leaves I make that move ...

I must edit and say NOT with this GM in charge he will only F it up.

Hopefully you’ll continue to follow this team. I feel bad you didn’t get to see the best of what this team has to offer in the past couple years, but maybe you’ll hang around and give our future a chance.

That's always been my feeling. You can't just look at your own team.

You have to look at the rest of the conference and see which direction your competition is going in.

Canes, Panthers, Leafs, TB still, Rags, etc. They are all teams that are just opening up their window with a lot of really good pieces already in place. They just need the roster tweaks to put them over the top.

We are missing cornerstone pieces.

A true 1C, a true 2C (if Bergeron retires), with how Coyle and Haula played in the postseason you could argue for a different 3C.

We have a top end #1D in Mac. I wasn't in love with the Lindholm move, I wanted Chychrun instead. We needed/need offense from the backend and Chychrun is much more of a threat for that. But Lindholm is still a legit top 4 dman.

Idk about the rest of the D-core.

Our top 6 LWs look good on paper. But Hall was suspect all series long and Marchand couldn't produce at all in Carolina. And those two guys arent getting younger. Hall isn't old but he is what he is.

I think the exact term I used when I said I wanted to rebuild a few years ago was punting on 3rd down. Which is similar to what you are saying.

Too many holes. Just punt.
