I am disappointed and sad, but not surprised or angry. I have had the immense honor of watching Patrice Bergeron in nearly almost every game since he came up as an 18 year old🖤❤️💛. Seeing him mature as a player and a man, from Rookie to Selke winner, from a kid to a proud Dad, from “A” to “C”. Hope we get one more year, not ready to say goodbye to this wonderful guy. Thanks Captain, see you in September

The Big Smoke (unfortunately)
Carlo McAvoy swayman pasta jake lindholm ullmark arent chicken feed. We have a solid bunch of prime young players here.
Carlo? Only 2 D I keep are Mac and Hammer, obviously (and Zboril). Well they need to keep more because they need 19 D to play, but the only 2/3 I make sure I keep are those 3.

Edit: and Forbort, I guess. Griz, Reilly, Carlo buh bye. (But again, still need D to play so gotta keep someone.)

When we won in 2011 we had a tough team, 4 lines, great goaltending and a pack mentality. This teams the past 2 years has no identity. No style that you attach to them. That’s on management
Also Ryder hail mary glove save. We need the right bounce puck luck too. Hall had clean net and screwed it up. Had he scored maybe we in finals against avalanche.

Screwing up the lockout, botching the Joe Thornton deal, and bottoming out were the best thing that could have happened to this organization.

It was the only way to shake up the Good Ol Boys Club and bring in an outsider to run the hockey ops.

It wasn’t perfect and we can criticize Chiarelli’s flaws, but it was a needed tonic at the time.

Where are the checks and balances in this smug, arrogant, soft organization?

Yeah I've always said that you don't get 2011 without the collapse that came before it. Being terrible forced ownership's hand to actually change things, be bolder and go in a new direction, and we got a Cup out of it. But then complacency set in again and we're right back to the usual way of doing things in this organization, which has probably cost us at least one more championship and led us back to this lingering stretch of good but not good enough teams that we've seen many many times before.

You hate to admit it, and it's going to be rough for awhile, and risky, but the bottom needs to fall out for Boston again. Change up the management, have a good look at what you've got on the roster, keep what's best and most essential, and then clean house and build afresh from there. Maybe it doesn't work and all goes to hell. But I'd rather try that than just keep up these mediocre seasons where the team's living a lot on hope and a 'you never know' mentality without being a genuine heavyweight contender.

did tony d'angelo out produce the entire crop of DS ufa signings and lindholm in production at 1 mill per year?

and Giroux would have totally made a difference if only faceoff relief

Word is Bergy and Marchand wanted to run it back for one last crack at the ether thing after last season’s loss to the Isles, right?

Well, they tried.

I’d have taken it down to the studs a year early. They waited a year longer.

Probably won’t matter in the long run.

This isn’t the 21 team format that they made the playoffs every year under.

Look at the Red Wings.

As @Gee Wally has said, some of you have not been around for some of the lean years.

We’ve gone from being nostalgic about the 1980s to the 1990s lately.

Remember the mid-late 90s Bruins? They may be coming back.
Some of us remember the pre-Orr 1960’s, not pretty indeed

With the smurfs
Just finished watching.

Frustrating loss. Frustrating series.

Again allowing the 1st goal and getting in 2 goals down hole that you can’t get against these jerks who have zero loss all year in that situation.

So many flopped grade A chances. Hall early on a great Haula feed for a 1-0 lead. Frederic post that would have made it 2-2 and seconds after Domi makes it 3-1.

Coyle early in 3rd mishandling a pass with an open net. Pasta late in 3rd missing an open net.

Bruins battled and could have won this game but it wasn’t meant to be I guess.

Refs brutal all game both ways missing a careless high stick by Haula and a clear elbow to Pasta face by Smith. Put whistle in pocket which helped the Canes up by two.

Hopefully that wasn’t Bergy last game. If it was, it is really a sad day and thank you for every memories.

Have a good summer everyone!

Gut-wrenching emotional post. Thanks for those Bergy pics.

Alright. Time to go walk some dogs, drink a beer, and relish the Toronto area as the Leafs implode again.

Love you HF Bruins board!

Unless somebody has magic pixie dust, or has never heard of CapFriendly, I suggest you go there. Take a long hard look.
Before you set yourself up for rainbows and unicorns that aint gonna happen.
I agree. And that’s why I pray they attack where the cap doesn’t exist. I’ve seen enough of Sweeney’s vision. Cam too.

Bruce I’m lukewarm on. It wasn’t him missing empty nets or blowing coverages. That’s on the players.

Now if Trotz or Tortorella become interested then ya. I think going another way could work too.

Bottom line this team needs more skill, more size, more mean. Tall order for one offseason. Fix the top first then work your way down.

Is it realistic that they crack the top 3 in the Atlantic next season?

If not:

Who are you competing against for the two WC spots? How do you feel about those odds?

And then….where does that leave the prognosis of this club for the foreseeable future?

Rising and never winning it . No guarantee a full rebuild even guarantees you success. Look at oilers they have been doing it for years rebuild after another.

So an aging Bergeron, Krejci who isn't even playing NHL hockey and aging Marchand are? Come on...wake up man. The Oilers are garbage, Id prefer to not make those mistakes. This team needs new management and to stop holding on to players and shit contracts, Not bring back more. Krejci ship sailed. So has this teams dynasty era.
