If Nylander is out we're f***ed

Between him and McMann we are missing 2 of our best goal-scorers. For a team built on their offense and having it spread out this is horrendous

I think he had some sort of medical issue and they do not want to disclose it or HE does not want to. This reeks of he had surgery or treatment for something and he simply is not yet ready to go back in and play a game but he can now skate and practice. I bet he is in for game 3 or at worst game 4.

Those videos of him on the ice look like someone moving very gingerly. Something clearly isn't right.

Matthews is also the youngest player of all the players listed.

He's also one of the rare players who actually made the playoffs since his rookie year so it's included in his stats. He'd be better off not making the playoffs when he was young because his stats would be better. MacKinnon missed the playoffs for 4 of his first 5 years.

It's undeniable Matthews is a better player today than he was as a rookie. However, you used all his stats as a teenager, 20, 21, etc. to bring him down because unlike most of the others he was actually in the playoffs at a young age.
His best playoff in terms of shooting percentage was his rookie season (25.0%) and his second beat was his 3rd season (15.6%).

It's almost always to check the faxts before making an argument.

I thought the Domi and Bertuzzi additions were going to have more of an impact. Guys who can score, but don't need to as much on this team and could add the physical nature they needed.

I didn't get to watch the first game, but seems that's not the case.
Domi was great for Boston in game 1

next to the bench
It's not the same core in Boston.

The only siginificant active member is Marchand.
Pasta has been there for 10 years.

I go for Bruins. Their media and fans are not nearly as annoying.

Good to be nervous when it's your own team. Honest and humble.
But take it from someone with no dog in this fight. Leafs are done.
I keep thinking you ARE a Bruins fan :)

How is McMann one of your best goal scorers
Because he's really good at scoring goals and an underrated player in general

Since Jan 1 he has 14 goals in 43 games, a 27-goal pace (this is around the time he became a lineup regular and moved up). He's strong on the forecheck, works very well with JT on the 2nd line and is defensively responsible

Nylander has understandably taken all of the attention, but it's going under the radar how big of a loss McMann is to the depth-scoring of this team

Nylander being out couldn’t be worse timing. Marner and JT need to step up or this series is over
LOT of pressure on Mitch, he was a complete no show once again in game 1. This post-season determines his future with the organization IMO. Another poor showing and he's gone.

Nylander out is a massive blow, but if Marner is out too this team has no chance. We need our top guys to perform like our top guys, can't have Ryan Reaves outscoring our "best playmaker" just can't happen.

And if he says no?

That's the major issue Toronto has by not pulling the plug on the big four sooner. Treliving and Shanny can push Marner all they want. If he decides he'd rather stick it out with his friends for one more season and then pick his destination as a free agent. There's absolutely nothing Toronto can do about it.

Its a team culture thing, on paper Boston doesn't have the talent to beat Toronto IMO.
The Bs do have better depth though and play much better team defense honestly this years Bruins remind me of past years Canes good depth and team buy in but not enough high end scoring.

He also out scored your “best goal scorer”

Wait til his deal expires next summer and let him walk, he's not worth 11M, his cap space is worth more to Toronto (if used correctly)

When did shooting percentage become more important than actual scoring?
Great deflection...

His shooting % in his first 3 seasons was 13.3%.

Since then ? 8.3%.

Actual scoring?

His first three seasons: 10 in 20 games.

Since then ? 12 in 31 games.

As mentioned previously, make sure th check the facts before making an (-------) argument.

Not sure about that as the Leafs are terribly top-heavy and built from the forwards out instead of the goalie out. That's fine for the regular season but a recipe for disaster in the playoffs.
A case could be made either way - but from here a forward group that can roll Nylander out on its 3rd line is pretty deep. I mean Boston is trusting Danton Heinen as its #1 LW.

Boston's got a good top 3 on defense, but is also rolling out Shatenkirk and Peeke on its bottom pair (two guys who were essentially throwaways by their teams from last year)

Boston has the edge in goal, no doubt.
