Hey Terry, Do Us A Favor and SELL

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
Another reason why this moron needs to sell the team...

Edit: Obviously this shouldn't surprise anyone but how many times is this going to happen to your franchise that you finally realize you can't run this team?

It's Biz. While I wouldn't be shocked if Dahlin really did say that........until it's confirmed elsewhere, I'm taking that with a gigantic cube of kosher salt.

Yeah. Its time to change NOW or they are going to waste the one unique talent they have. Other guys are waiting in the wings to ask out as well (Peterka wants out).

They wont do anything. They will keep trucking along with Adams, Appert, Nightingale, Jakubowski, Crowe, Ventura, Karmanos, Beetlejuice, High Pitch Eric, and the rest of the whack pack.

Anyone with any amount of competitiveness would be doing this, if they hadn't already. There is no doubt in my mind that Dahlin has fired a warning shot. The whole fanbase has been wondering why he didn't do it last year.

Good. Time to sell the farm Tim Murray style. Top 4 D top 6 C and top 6C all need to be a net addition this offseason.
We'll also need to fit some cap space, so trading just prospects won't work. I would try to get the best UFA, although there is little hope for this.

Heaven forbid Dahlin comes out in the next week to announce to the world how he really loves Buffalo and wants to stay.

Then we'll know we're f***ed.

Chad hinted at something that points to the Pegulas planning on owning the Sabres beyond the current lease at KBC:

There are multiple more years of arena improvements planned.

2024: Roof + Scoreboard
2025: Chad wouldn't say it in case he had the order wrong, but he said it would enhance the fan experience. My guess: they replace the seats finally.
2026 or beyond: ____

I don't believe they spend that money and have those plans if selling the team and it moving out of Buffalo is front of mind.

Especially given how they aren't investing in areas like letting Ruff hire his own assistants this year or in a league average size pro scouting department.

WHOAWHOAWHOAWHOA HOLD THE FORT......

Are you telling me that they are so cash poor right now that in order to make KBC a slightly better embarrassing toilet they refuse to invest in the most critical aspect of their actual product?

I am not making any comment about being cash poor.

Just giving my impression on what they are choosing to spend money on and what it says about their long term commitment to owning the team.

I don't think it's about money, it's just stupidity and greed. Why not replace the assistant coach to save pennies? The guy is a billionaire and not the poorest, or this is their stupid plan.

I have no idea and Adams danced around the question when asked saying that Ruff was on board with bringing Appert up and keeping the guys they did.

It's a damn strange situation, I hope Wilford's contract ends in the summer and it would be a good idea to get rid of Appert too.

I will be surprised if they move off of Appert as I think they view him as the coach in waiting.

They do need to get someone on the staff that knows how to coach up a PP.

I don't understand why they are so high on Appert. But they will also need to replace Wilford with a good defensive and PK coach. Appert also definitely shouldn't be running PP so why would he be on the staff? Adams and Ruff are in the last year of their contracts, this is their last chance.

He is on the staff as the head coach in waiting as he gets mentored by Ruff for a couple of years.

That seemed like the plan from the get go when the Ruff hire and Appert move were announced.

I don't think this plan will work. Only if he works temporarily for a certain number of games, if Ruff leaves before the end of his contract.

I'm not a fan.

But, if Pegula moves on from Adams and Ruff after 2025-26, I doubt Appert gets hired by the next GM unless it's Karmanos and he really likes Appert from working with him in the past.

I have absolutely no idea how they can't see his replacement in Rochester is doing far better with a weaker roster? What exactly in Appert's CV suggests he is a future NHL coach to anyone except morons?

I have absolutely no idea what was on Adams's CV that suggested that he was a future NHL GM. So, I have no idea exactly why they elevated Appert in what appears to be a coach-in-waiting move.

I only know what they do and the explanations they give for what they do.

The good news is the seats will not be used often, so we can extend their useful life well after they are fully depreciated. Future fixed asset returns are being banked, y'all!

Appert is a guy that Kevyn has sold to the owner, so sunk cost fallacy dicates that he should be given every opportunity to succeed (despite an overwhelming body of evidence that the guy is not technically sound).

I think any investment into the arena now will be based on ROI for the owners. For example, a quicker ordering system that makes people buy more, etc.

I think large investments, like new seats, etc, will wait until the lease renewal.

There is no plan for relocation or even a new arena at this point. The cost over runs at the new bills stadium will scare them off of any big projects for the foreseeable future. Plus they bought the hotel, built the practice arena, lots of investment in the arena district. They'd be hurting themselves.

Appert is a joke. If it werent for the Sabres he would be coaching in Oswego or Morrisville.

Its one of those Pegula/Adams affinity for honest and authentic individuals. Appert checks those boxes. They like him and know they can trust him. Its comfortable and keeps any future coaching search (where they would have to see and hear about the reality of the landfill of an organization they created) at bay.

What happens when they are drawing 7-8k on a nightly basis with the cheapest ticket prices in the entire league and little to no corporate support (their money will be 100% going to the throwball team)?

The writing is on the wall: If this lunacy continues the team will not exist in a decade.
