All I know is that with all this bitching, we better not see any Stars players hit Wild players after the puck has left their stick. That's would be a late hit and dirty.

To me, the hit was clean and only looked a touch late on the slow-mo replay. Seemed fine in real time. I think Dumba came in with the intent to blow-up Pavelski, but it was shoulder-first and therefore clean from that perspective. I wouldn't have minded a 2-minute interference call at most, but the ref's thought differently.

The hit seemed to change the momentum of the game.

Most importantly, hoping Pavelski is OK and can come back this series.

If we do, I'm sure you'll be the first to say it was a "beauty hit, totally clean, Boldy shoulda kept his head up, that's hockey", etc.

Right?

You think?

Taking a team's top line winger out of the game with a concussion tends to have that effect, yeah.

If it's a clean hit, I wouldn't complain about it. I'll be upset that a player was injured but understand it's a part of the game.

I wouldn't go out and wish said player would get hurt

Your wrong or lying. I cant speak to your motivations. The head being so close to the torso as long as contact is followed through the body it's been deemed clean. Has been for a decade. Dozens of examples, that led to threads like this because people don't understand the rules.
Try actually watching the video. The first thing to that happens on contact is that Pavelski's head snaps back violently, within a single frame. That's clearly where the injury occurred and only happens due to shoulder to head being the initial point of impact.

Well - people that actually do this stuff for a living disagree. You are however entitled to your arm chair opinion.

Suter’s cross-checks were dirtier than Dumba. Stars fans just watch too much football

Very hard, but clean hit with an extremely unfortunate result. Momentum would probably have swung even if Pavelski hadn't left the game. Dallas will need to raise their level of physical play going forward to match that of Minnesota. Suter's cross-checks on Kaprizov were cheap shots, but you could see that type of response coming a few seconds after Pavelski hit the ice. I don't think Dallas has an answer for Reaves or Foligno.

I dislike both teams btw, if that matters. I have no skin in this series besides wanting to watch good hockey.

The head snapping back was whiplash resulting from the hit to the shoulder.

Hit was fine, but Dumba is a POS, so I enjoyed Domi pounding on him afterwards. Look forward to the rest of the series, hopefully Dumba takes a couple in return.

In the gif above his head snaps back (body is never hit) and look and Dumba's body position when the head moves...he's almost past Pavelski already. Really looks like he clips the head to me.
Watch replay. Hartman s stick hits Pavelski before Dumba leads with shoulder. Dumba is falling away. Is everyone blind? Unfortunate result. Hope he’s ok.

Can someone please post a good replay and angle of what actually happened (Hartmans stick got in the middle of the check)

Or a stick getting up high on Pavelski (Hartman's or Pavelski's - it's hard to tell)

Must've been Pavelski's, since they "reviewed" it and there was no high-sticking call on the play. :help:

They did miss a clear high stick on Seguin, in either the 3rd period or first OT though. One of many missed calls last night.

True, but they also missed the two cross checks by Suter on Kaprizov as well.

Not how it works. You can't add a penalty due to the 5 min major review. They can only do something to the original penalty called.

His stick was definitely in there with Pav's stick, probably got smacked by both.

"clean" hit by the rule book but a "I got you not ready for a hit" hit. I hate the hits where 2 guys are engaged and the 3rd guy comes in clean from nowhere and takes the kill shot. This isnt exactly but same ballpark. Guy is paying attention to the puck, paying attention to the defender on him .. not thinking 3rd guy

I don’t think anyone is saying there weren’t missed calls, on both sides

That's the thing. The worst thing that can happen for the Wild is to go up 2-0 or 3-1.

This is a series with Hartman and Reaves on one side and Suter and Benn on the other. And they haven't even entered the octagon yet. But it's coming. Everyone knows it. If the series becomes out of hand or there's desparation, watch out.

Head was most definitely not initial point of contact.
