I don’t think you’re understanding. I have no dog in this fight, I am a fan of neither team.

As a neutral observer, Dumba followed the NHL rule book correctly (and as I’ve understood it for over 20 years) and then when the NHL reviewed it, they came to the same conclusion.

You can have whatever thoughts you want on Dumba, which is fine, but this specific hit was, and always has been, legal.

It’s no different than this hit, which has been shown on highlight reels for over a decade, except for the fact that Pavelski was injured.

It is not at all the same hit.

Pavelski was not Dumba's man and Dumba had no business throwing that hit it was meant to injure and was not a hockey play.

I am not a fan of either team but have played all my life and I would have beat the **** out of anybody who did that to a teammate. The officials got it wrong which is hardly uncommon but this is exactly the type of hit that the NHL has tried to crack down on in the past as it was entirely unnecessary and predatory.

Hockey is not basketball. They don't play man on man defense. Dumba's job as a defenseman is to cover the area around the net. It was a clean open ice body check. Shoulder to shoulder. It's unfortunate that Pavelski hit his head on the ice, but hits like this have always been part of hockey.

To be safe, the on-ice officials called a 5 minute major and allowed the league office to review. It was determined that the hit was within the rules and the penalty was rescinded. They got it right.

I get tempers are high and I agree with you in what I would do on the ice as a teammate too, but that doesn’t change that it’s a legal hit that was reviewed as a legal hit.

There is no “man coverage” in hockey in relation to hit legibility. These are not the hits the nhl has been targeting.

In respect to the Phaneuf hit, it was the same timing.

Didn't they add the review to majors because Vegas got knocked out of the playoffs on a crappy call involving Pavelski getting his head spilt open a few years ago?

Yes, on a major call that even Pavelski said shouldn't have been a major

That was actually such an awesome hit , it’s a skill that’s lost in todays game. Skating backwards , timing , turn-in and clean body contact. Devastating and Dumba is probably one of the best at it left in the game.

If Pavelski said that the refs should have posted the open season sign on him. Any hit on him is legal.
Because they usually don't take kindly to players objecting to their calls.

Does this draw attention from the league? Called a 5 min major. Edit: They reviewed and called this back as 2 for roughing

Pavelski is a good player that plays the game hard and Duma is a low talent and even that is overating , just another dirtbag............

I hope Pavelski is ok, but that's a penalty for hitting too hard.
sarcasm from you , straight forward from me BULLSHIT .....I hope he gets his
