I don’t think you’re understanding. I have no dog in this fight, I am a fan of neither team.
As a neutral observer, Dumba followed the NHL rule book correctly (and as I’ve understood it for over 20 years) and then when the NHL reviewed it, they came to the same conclusion.
You can have whatever thoughts you want on Dumba, which is fine, but this specific hit was, and always has been, legal.
It’s no different than this hit, which has been shown on highlight reels for over a decade, except for the fact that Pavelski was injured.
It is not at all the same hit.
Pavelski was not Dumba's man and Dumba had no business throwing that hit it was meant to injure and was not a hockey play.
I am not a fan of either team but have played all my life and I would have beat the **** out of anybody who did that to a teammate. The officials got it wrong which is hardly uncommon but this is exactly the type of hit that the NHL has tried to crack down on in the past as it was entirely unnecessary and predatory.
