We likely will never know the truth of the situation but being great at something doesn't entitle you to be an asshole to your peers. I'd like to think Miller and Pettersson are just both competitive guys who express some frustration when things don't go well. Vancouver has worked hard to rebuild the team after Benning and this sort of problem if it exists is just unnecessary.

So you are saying that the coach, the captain of the team, and the most reputable insiders in the sport are lying?

When neither the coach or captain specifically said it was an issue and just alluded to locker room issues for a team heavily underperforming. It was fans and insiders whom made up the Pettersson/Miller narrative by trying to read between the lines.

Miller is a highly competitive player, people are just trying to speculate without any substance to what it is.

Not a single reputable source has said with certainty that there is an issue between the two; it’s all been assumptions.

Jesus f***ing christ, did you actually watch those interviews? Tocchet and Hughes were not asked about how the locker room is, they were specifically asked about EP and Miller. And then they proceeded to answer the way they did.

The mental gymnastics you are trying to pull off man...

Interviewer: "What do you have to say on the rumoured issues between Elias Petterson and JT Miller?
Tocchet and Q. Hughes: "Yeah well there are issues but nothing we can't overcome, it is what it is"

You: "All of this is just made up there are no issues!"

You seem to want it to be this so badly.

These guys may not particularly like each other. Miller’s absence from the team is more likely about personal issues and the team has been underperforming, leading to other overall frustrations. Simplest explanation is that this is completely overblown, and the media’s track record with hyping this kind of thing and getting it wrong speaks for itself.

The most likely scenario here isn't that these two have some childish feud going and refuse to be in the same room or on the ice together and are demanding trades Kobe style ("its me or him"). Most likely scenario is Miller is really tough on Petey and Petey (who is pretty quiet but really tough on himself) doesn't like that. They probably don't get along and were never really close. It's almost certainly not as big a deal as the media makes it out to be though. They pass to eachother, they make room for eachother on the PP, etc. Its likely that the media asking the exact same question over and over even after they say they'd rather move on and talk about something else is a bigger issue than anything in the locker room.

When you are losing a bunch of winnable games because of individual mistakes (Miller being the biggest culprit overall), the locker room probably isn't a fun place to be, winning solves that. Neither should be traded right now, just focus on winning games. Only adjustment related to these two is I'd like to see Miller play fewer minutes til his conditioning and play improves and I'd want to see Petey get those minutes so he can play with Hughes more. He went nearly 1.4 points per game in the time Miller was out, lean on him more and give him the opportunity til JT gets his game back consistently.
