If Dubois flatlines from here on out, and Vilardi continues to excel and has a great career, where will this trade rank all time in terms of worst in franchise history?
Easily the worst ever, as it will be the move that keeps this team from competing for years to come, and that is before we even know what the 2nd round pick becomes.

Yeah, but Faber AND a first is a much wider gap than Vilardi, Iafallo, Kupari and a 2nd.

I have zero doubt that this will become clearer with time.

In two or three years when Fiala is well below a ppg you won't be thinking the same thing.
I don' t think you're properly weighting how damaging PLD's contract could potentially be in cap league.

If PLD flatlines and Vilardi has a great career, I have a hard time thinking of a worse trade in franchise history.

What’s scary is the bomb and distraction that is gonna happen once the inevitable happens and management stops tip toeing around Proven Listless Disaster

This place is so entertaining. Just think 7.5 more years of PLD!!!! Probably Blake's best trade.

it really is just a ticking time bomb and it's gonna be the end of this regime, just a matter of when
Nah, just play Kopi with Lewis & Grundström. Run Byfield, PLD, Kempe & Blake will look like a genius.

If the Kings didn't believe in Byfield or Turcotte then make an offer for ROR, Bjudstad or Duchene.

Plenty of centers were out there.

FYI, all those centers make less than PLD and have better stats. THE END.

I think it happens in weeks. Gonna be dominos. Todd trying to save his job benches PLD when that doesn’t work Blake trying to save his job fires Todd when Blake promotes interim head coach Marco Sturm and Kings miss the playoffs Blake is let go by Robitaille in the offseason and Luc promotes Bergy and the cycle continues !

I mean I totally understand the trade.

They tried Vilardi at center. They tried Kupari at center. They tried Byfield at center. They tried moving Lizotte up the lineup. Meanwhile Turcotte's career was/is in question.

If they wanted to try QB at center again this year, it would mean breaking up one of the better lines in the league (QB-AK-AK).

Dubois, on paper, is a dream. Huge mobile center. Capable of playing a two way game. Only 25 years old. I get it. I get the appeal.
NHL executives should have a better grasp of reality than the lowest tier of message board posters.

I am not kidding, a buyout this summer would save them a ton of money and headaches. It would have to be done asap to get the 1/3rd ratio.

It would last 14 seasons, 9 of which would be under a $1.7 million cap hit. The three worst years would be between $3.5 and $3.8, but there is no way that they couldn't find a better replacement for under $4 million so that the cap hit would actually be a savings.

The hard part is getting this front office to be accountable, the money would be a savings to ownership, and undoubtedly the on-ice product would be better.

This is entirely do-able.

If those numbers are correct I do it this dude is a head case who doesn’t make the team better at all.

It really is the only option without him breaking the law.

A buyout this June would be the last chance for it to be at 1/3, based on Dubois’ age. I’ve looked at the yearly numbers. I’m seriously all in favour.

Watching this unfold, I’m more thankful than ever I saw not one, but two cups from this team under previous management. Because there is no way these bozos, who in their playing days never won a damn thing on their own and were plugged into winning environments, will be getting us there.
I would try waivers before the NTC kicks in.
Maybe we are extremely lucky and some contenders are snatching him

Didn't read through the entire GDT but noticed everyone was all over Grundstrom on the Hagel goal but, my god, how weak was Dubois on that play as well?

Fox doesn't dare lay into him. He will burn Kaliyev alive every chance he gets though. Laferriere's turnover at center ice that led to the tying goal was a "forced turnover" so he absolved him of any blame but Kaliyev has to get the puck deep on the first goal against.

Don’t know how else you can light a fire under this guy’s ass. The frustrating part is we know he’s talented enough and capable of producing. Could easily be a fan-favorite.

This guy has no pulse whatsoever. That's the most discouraging thing. Last night when he took that elbowing penalty I was like "finally" a little emotion. If he had a third of the heart that Danault has he'd easily be worth the money. The guy just looks like he doesn't give a shit and that's why my optimism that he'll pull it together is dwindling. Reading that we could've signed ROR or Duchense for less just adds to the pile of mismanagement by Blake.

Kaliyev is the designated beating taker for todd and jimmi boy.
Wait until some other team claims him off waivers and, like so many others, blossoms into the scorer he is. Instead of the fourth line checking grinder the runt is trying to turn him into

i don't think there was even a mention of the fact that PLD was demoted on the entire telecast save for nick saying something about it being a new line combination

it's really pretty pathetic how pervasive the yes-men in this org are

i think bob would've said something pretty nasty on TV by now
