He for sure did. I am not sure what isnt to like here. Jets had a need for a depandable bottom pairing D with grit and physicality (this is the reason why Stanley has been in the line up). Bring in Schenn who has 1000+ games, Stanley Cup rings, and most importantly does not upset the applecart on team chemistry. By all accounts a beloved teammate and a warrior on the ice.

That last point is applicable to Tanev, a known commodidty to the players and organization. The theme is pretty clear.

To me the messaging from Jets Management to the team is we believe in you, and having respect for the bond the locker room holds.

These are two very solid, underrated moves.
That's a really great way to look at it.

In a sense Chevy said "I trust and believe in you guys, but here's some added depth for the run".

Another interesting thing that Chevy said was that the org. involved the players in the decision making with regards to what to do at the TDL, asked them what they wanted which I thought was really progressive.

That's a great way to get buy in from the team in my mind.

What the hell happened to this site?

It's crazy to think a 2nd and 3rd last year landed the Jets a 30 goal scorer, where a 2nd and a 4th this year gets you a 3rd pairing d-man. Sellers market.

Morrissey gushed about Schenn, both as a person and a player. He said he went through a period in his career where he could have been done, but he completely reworked his game.

He's still physical, but instead of gooning around, he worked really hard at improving his zone exits, both with short and long passing.

Morrissey seemed very genuine and knowledgeable about it, not just throwing around platitudes, and was really happy that the Jets grabbed him.
Im cautiously optimistic on this trade, but I think when you have an elite defenceman like Morrissey saying things like this about you, it definitely bodes well.

Side note. Does Schenn play his off hand? I've heard a few people mention he can play both sides. The optimist in me wants to believe this could punt Stanley out for a few..

One thing to consider about Schenn is that if he performs well during this run and is useful during next season and the Jets are successful, he'll have been worth the picks.

If the Jets don't do as well as they hope, Schenn can still be traded at the TDL next season and recoup at least some of the draft capital.

Stanley-Schenn pairing would be pretty gross and not in a good way.

Prices are f***in crazy this year. Schenn is a 3rd pairing at best depth guy going for a second+
He played with Reilly in Toronto and really elevated his game. He's definitely a step above Stanley or Miller in both physicality and skill. Solid stay at home that can clear the net and punish guys on the wall.

Schenn and either Fluery or Heinola would actually be a decent pair

Good point about the ability to recoup draft capital next deadline, something I did not consider.

If the Jets re-sign Pionk, and with Miller also with another year on his deal, then Schenn probably means Salomonsson spends another season with the Moose.

RD: DeMelo - Pionk - Schenn - Miller - Salomonsson
LD: Morrissey - Samberg - Stanley - Heinola - Isaak

I didn't realize Schenn had another year of term

Maybe he falls in love with the org and convinces his brother to waive and come take a cup run with him next year

Miller can always be waived.
