Schenn has had some decent defensive seasons in the past and brings size and physicality. Dunno about him and stanley together. Cost kind of high but meh.

People will dismiss it but one of the major problems we had last year in the playoffs was clearing the net in front of Hellebuyck during the playoffs. Both DeMelo and Pionk got worked by Colorado.
I'll dismiss it. The lost net front battles all began because the Jets weren't quick enough to get to 50/50 pucks & make a good first pass. Turnovers were a much bigger problem than lost net front battles. The Jets defence was bigger that Colorado. It was the Avalance forecheck that killed us.

Neither is Demelo but there he is playing with Jomo.

DeMelo provides some pretty good defense, while lacking the offense of a top pairing DMan. Schenn does not even come close, and would be a pretty big anchor for Morrissey to drag around.

That being said, he has played with other offensively-talented top pairing D in the past, so it will be interesting to see. I don't see Schenn playing top pair.

Nope bumps a better player in Miller.
Not necessarily. If I was the Jets I'd start with Stanley-Miller, but have Fleury-Schenn to back them up. Fleury and Miller together have been mediocre. Adds more to the bottom, and gives the Jets a PKer and another veteran d-man on the right side in case Melo goes down.

You'd have to think at least a discussion happening with STL on Brayden.

Yeah I think Chevy is probably in deep discussion with Armstrong and Schenns agent. Hey look we got your brother, we are going to the big show, you got a chance to win a Cup with your brother here. Come on over and let's have some fun.

Assuming Brayden is willing to waive his NTC to come to Winnipeg, today's prices are on the steep side. Brayden has 3 more seasons at $6.5 M, so the term is there. Likely cost the 2025 1st and a pretty good prospect. Just keep Salo and Yager off limits and I'm fine including any prospect after that.

I could see the Blues having some interest in a guy like Barlow, I think we might have to move out some salary as well.

Something like Barlow, 2025 1st, and a low tier roster player like Kupari or Gus.

I am whelmed. That's a pretty high price for Luke Schenn. It's a seller's market. He's RHD so I doubt he bumps out Stanley. I don't think Chevy thinks we need to upgrade on Stanley.

On the plus side, Schenn was washed years ago but seems to have revitalized his career a bit as a physical glue guy. He's mean, rugged and will help clear the front of the net. Under playoff reffing his value goes up. He's a fine addition to help with depth and playoff attrition.

There were talks about the Schenn brothers wanting to play together. Maybe this gets the ball rolling on a Brayden trade? That would make this deal look a bit better.

I didn't realize so many Jets fans were also hardcore Pittsburgh fans that they see him play all the time enough to make the call he is not an upgrade over any of our defence.
