LeBrun: Dubois wants out of Winnipeg, will not sign a contract for next season

The Jets ownership rarely wants to pay a player to stay home. If he's signed to a 1 year deal here he'll play. However, if the coaching staff decides to scratch him for 82 games they're within their rights to do so, as long as Dubois is getting paid.
If there is collusion between ownership/gm/coaching staff to undermine his career because he screwed them over durint contract negotiation. That is ground for prosecution. And due to the fact it wouldn't be criminal but a civil matter it's not black anr white. If there are proof they did indeed intend to sit him all year to screw him out of lots of $$, they will lose.

That's the thing, I don't think they'd sit him just because. He'd have to be a huge distraction in the dressing room for the Jets to scratch him every game. Also, given the way the league seems to run, I think more people who make the decisions in the NHL would support the Jets over Dubois.

It's a moot argument because he'll be traded by then, but they won't sit him to "punish" him.

Any new news or rumors or is it more squabbling in here

I figure it'll look something like our 1st from Florida and Josh Anderson. Possibly a B prospect too.
If Winnipeg can get something better they should do so. Making him sit for a year is idiotic.

Josh Anderson has an NTC.

Nope. They have discretion to manage their team. If they decide that they only want players on the ice who want to be there, that’s totally within their discretion. Their obligation is to pay him whether he is on the ice or sitting at home.

Earlier you used the word defamation. They’d have to do something actively that rises to that level other than making decisions that they feel are in their best interest. Otherwise, by your logic, they could sue him for damaging how Winnipeg is perceived because he just wants to play somewhere else.

Rumour has it that Montreal is tired of Dach’s 35% career faceoff ratio and will soon agree to ship him to Winnipeg.

In Winnipeg, the first line will be Perfetti, Connor and Ehlers. Media will make an acronym, calling it the PCE line, and pronounce it as the Pace line. Kirby “Pace” Dach will work hard to crack the Pace line, eventually succeed, and then demand to be traded out of Winnipeg.

It wouldn't be rhat hard for him and his lawyers to find a way where they can make a collusion case against him.

Nit playing him, playing him on the 4h line. Etc... They can manage their teak all they want, but he'd have a case for sure if theu are actively trying to ruin his next contract because thet were not happy to take on the deals offered.

Just curious to the Habs fans if the PLD trade happens any cap concerns? It looks like a player, or two, needs to get shipped out.

We have about 12 million I'm cap space with Price on LTIR. We are okay, preferably would like to send a smaller contract out as well for flexibility/open up roster spots for young players/a signing (rumors around monohan) But not the end of the world if we don't.

His lawyers would need to have grounds, which they likely don't. Then his lawyers would need proof as the ones bringing the suit.

I love how Montreal fans say yeah Suzuki and Caufield is tha best etc etc. You need to pass 2 Tkachuks to even get somewhere in the playoffs, and those 2 will eat Caufield and Suzuki alive and I cant see you have any real weapons against them.... Would not count on Dach being that guy...

For starters I want PLD and am willing to give more than probably 85% of the Habs board in a trade for him.

But really? Since you highlighted the Tkachuks I'm assuming we are talking nastiness/physicality here?

Habs have Anderson, Xhekaj, Guhle, Savard, and eventually Slaf onces he grows into his man strength.

+ we have Mailloux coming down the pipe and are rumored to be very interested in Leonard at the draft.

Again I want to add PLD to that group but we aren't short on SOBs when the playoffs start.

Please hughes and gorton, DO NOT touch this guy with a 50 foot pole.

PLEASE

signed, habs fan.

P/S. If you do though for some reason acquire him, please only pay 5$ for 2 years. Anything more and I will puke my guts out.

I think what he is saying is your star players have to be able to play through that. If they can't perform in the playoffs it doesn't matter who you have around them. So if you add PLD to your "star" players he likely handles it and excels in that area.

A poster on the Habs board said its basically down to LA and Montreal. Maybe he's right.
i believe that poster hes not the type to lie he has hes sources

If Dubois is willing to extend with LA i could definitely see them outbid the Habs i dont think HuGo will give alot for Dubois i would be fine with Florida/Calgary 1st + Beck + cap but not more then that LA can probably do better

Every team in the league would love to have a Tkachuk. Unfortunately there isn’t one available. Certainly not with the players being discussed in this proposal thread.

No new news, just the normal bantering back & fourth between some. :)

Less then three weeks before this is resolved and other pieces starting getting moved, best part of the year for me, I'm loving it. Wanted changes for a long time, finally getting them by the sounds of it.

PLD - out
Helle - out
Mark - likely will be out
Wheeler - likely will be out, but might just let him play out his final year which is no big deal.
Other vets - Possibly 2-3 more out

Bring on the youth movement! Exciting times

While my preferred course to take was a rebuild this summer, sounded like the team wanted a restructure only but now that option might of been removed from them so I still might get the rebuild. Fingers crossed it happens

I think it would be easier for TNSE to sell a couple of down years if they can recoup young (almost) NHL ready talent as returns over draft picks

That way they have faces and names to market and hype outside of just mystery box draft picks

Agreed, I mean he also said this before Firedman did so I'm not surprised.

But tbh even if the Habs don't get PLD I'll be happy this saga is over. But I still think he's gonna be a Hab it just may cost a little more.
