The Jets ownership rarely wants to pay a player to stay home. If he's signed to a 1 year deal here he'll play. However, if the coaching staff decides to scratch him for 82 games they're within their rights to do so, as long as Dubois is getting paid.
You haven't watched Dach play last season. Not even 1 game I suspect. Because if you did there's no way in hell you would be saying this. Dach is untouchable right now.Yes, PLD is clearly an upgrade on Dach. But how much will the Habs have to him? Is PLD at 8.5 or 9 x 8 better than Dach?
Why do fans of other teams all make points like Montreal is competing for playoffs in the next year? The team is rebuilding and by the time they are ready to compete the line-up will be completely different, right now they are stocking prospects and picks, waiting out the bad contracts left by Bergevin and giving young players some experience. No sane fan is expecting to compete for the playoffs before 2-3 years from now. A PLD will not change any of that, so why give anything away for him? Especially pieces you want to see where they develop, not like what was done to get Gomez and Drouin. If Winnipeg wants to speed up the process for Montreal by taking the truly bad contracts as part of a deal, there is what to discuss, as PLD on the current team, with the cap situation doesn't advance anything, and cannot be surrounded by the high level talent he needs to be a difference maker, unless it is developed internally and is guys on their ELC or the equivalent as UFA's.I love how Montreal fans say yeah Suzuki and Caufield is tha best etc etc. You need to pass 2 Tkachuks to even get somewhere in the playoffs, and those 2 will eat Caufield and Suzuki alive and I cant see you have any real weapons against them.... Would not count on Dach being that guy...
Yeah...the NHLPA would beg to differ lol.
Also they'd be stupid to tank whatever value he has now to literally close to nothing by doing that. If you don't think he'll re-sign then trade him to whoever is making the best offer whether if it's for a rental or an extended PLD.
i believe that poster hes not the type to lie he has hes sources
If Dubois is willing to extend with LA i could definitely see them outbid the Habs i dont think HuGo will give alot for Dubois i would be fine with Florida/Calgary 1st + Beck + cap but not more then that LA can probably do better
That guy needs to take his stats and facts outa here! It has no place in our fantasy land!Look at stats all you want. There is context there that you are missing and either conveniently ignore or are not aware of, due to lack of knowledge on Dach.
Dach's development improved dramatically this year in a new system, with a new coach and fully healed from a wrist injury that significantly hurt him in year 2.
Stats rarely tell the whole story, but if that is the gist of your argument, it is all I need to know about who I am debating with.
I like fantasy land....but let's clean up your statement here. By stating stats and facts, you make it seem like buddy has two things to base his argument on. It really should have read stats/facts which would denote one point to the argument. Conversely, things like coaching changes, changes of scenery and returning from injury could also be construed as facts/added context. That guy needs to take his stats and facts outa here! LA has more to offer than the Habs do, so I think it's just a matter of preference. He can win now and do all the big city stuff he wants to do in LA, or he can go home, do most of that big city stuff in Montreal, but maybe not win for a few years.
I think they will give him the benefit of only being 20 years old but I don't even think he is available...does Chevy value Byfield as a main piece??...is the 'Peg willing to give him the change of scenery benefit??...
keep The fantasy life coming! Par for the course for Habs fans, Galchenyuk is bad because of the coach, KK is just young, Domi is a 70 point center, Caufield is a 40 goal player, it’s the rest of the team’s fault that X player doesn’t score more, the stats look bad but have you seen him play?!I like fantasy land....but let's clean up your statement here. Fun!
Haven’t gotten a #1 goalie either….I'm not quite sure LA can add both Wilson and PLD
What would Hellebuyck and PLD return from LA?Haven’t gotten a #1 goalie either….
I think you forgot the part where Suzuki and Caufield along with Toffoli were the best Habs forwards by a pretty clear margin in their SCF runI love how Montreal fans say yeah Suzuki and Caufield is tha best etc etc. You need to pass 2 Tkachuks to even get somewhere in the playoffs, and those 2 will eat Caufield and Suzuki alive and I cant see you have any real weapons against them.... I’m the wrong person to ask because I honestly have no clue but that’s gonna be pricey as f***What would Hellebuyck and PLD return from LA?
As far as futures go, I bet the Kings would want Turcotte in the deal and they are willing to trade any draft pick. They would need salary in the deal as well which would be Iafallo or Arvidsson. I honestly don't see how they could come up with a good package and fit the salary unless there are a lot more moving parts.Dont see us outbidding LA kings if they give something substantial , can Kings fans chime in on what they are open to giving up
Yeah...the NHLPA would beg to differ lol.

Dude, you're not getting Dach. Forget about it. Nice try though.I've been asking for Dach and FLA 1st all along, so blame me
I still think it's a fair trade. I don't understand Habs fans infatuation with Dach. Sure, I get why they'd be hesitant to give him up if they thought they could get PLD for free in a year but now it looks like that's not the case.
PLD is currently the better player, he's just entering his prime and will still be in it if/when the Habs can become competitive again. Basically Habs fans don't want the sure thing, just in case their shiny new toy might actually turn into the sure thing. Completely nonsensical.
And all the talk of PLD not fitting their window is ridiculous, given the fact he's only a year older than Suzuki
As a Jets fan, I take PLD over Dach 100 times out of 100 moving forward but since that won't be the case, I'd settle for Dach as a consolation
The Kings should be the focus of this thread. Jets and Canadiens fans are going at eachothers throats because the trade really doesn’t make any sense other then Dubois won’t keep Montreal out of his mouth. The Kings giving up a little more to get Dubois right now makes sense. Montreal on the other hand makes a bad trading partner because there’s no urgency for them to make that kind of a deal and Winnipeg is desperate to get this done as quickly as possible.I'd love Dubois in LA. This team needs a heavy forward that doesn't suck. And since they whiffed on the Byfield project it'll need to be addressed via trade. I just have no idea what valuable pieces LA has left to give up
Nope. Winnipeg is under no obligation to trade him if they don't like the offers. And they're not obligated to let him take the ice if they feel the team is better off that way. They'd be using discretion they have to act in their own best interest. Same justification PLD would use for trying to force a trade.
In this scenario, one could legitimately say PLD has only himself (or his agent) to blame.
This ultimately hurts the Jets far more than PLD, so I really hope they go this route just to see the drama lol.
The bonus in this is that he walks into FA and potentially comes straight to the habs. The biggest worry about the habs not getting PLD is him being traded to a team like LA (or similar).
Another snag would be that you’re paying $9 million for Pierre-Luc Dubois.Doesn’t this idea hit a snag because it entitles WPG to a Montreal 1st round pick (et al)?
Winnipeg wouldn’t need a back door arrangement. That pick would be potentially valuable.
