If he offer sheets Chevy says…please be Montreal we would love to have 1st overall pick next year and cap space. If he doesn’t report PLD is suspended and jets get even more cap space. Trade him at the TDL at 50% . There would be a bidding war. Jeannot got great prospect, a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and likely won’t be resigned by Tampa…so they would have to backup the truck for the haul the Jets would get….and the will be no cap dump in that trade.

Brisson just played his last card cause he knows Chevy has him cornered. You don’t leak a question that you asked and got answered if you had any leverage. Brisson just caused a shitstorm for PLD. Has no affect on the Jets at all.

And for those that think the Jets couldn’t get the 5OA this year for PLD, you are just fooling yourself. That piece of glass reclamation project Dach got 13th and 66th which has around 10th value, Debrinct got 7th. A 6’4” power center is going to bring back 5OA plus Floridas 1st. If the Habs want another favor of including a dump I think Calgarys 1st would have to be added.

"We'll OS PLD for 4.25, and sign him to an 8x8 extension after (68.5M on 9year (avg 7.61M / year, which respecte Habs internal cap and reflects PLD's value)"

Jets have to either trade him for more than a 2nd within a week, match the OS and lose him for nothing at the end of the year and then Bingo!

And understand that considering PLDnis worse than Horvat, you'll either get a much worse prospect than Raty along with a pick around 20, or a much worse pick than 20 (like 30) and a similar value prospect to Raty (like Mesar, Harris, Tuch, Kapanen), aling woth a 4.xx cap dump like Beauvilier.

Jets fans can whine all they want. That's his value.

Im all for player freedom, and honestly as a Jet-fan I understand why he wanna leave. Jets has been a shit-show for like the last 3-4 years with the management not fixing the root of the problem. They just digging the head in the sand, it works if you winning but Jets never really has, so instead of fixing it the roof is collapsing.
On the other hand PLD is just stupid. He should just shut up and not talk about wanting to go to Montreal, it is bad for his business. He wont get the contract he thinks he deserves, and he is not the lost son from Montreal coming home, like Tavares did. He needs a reality check, but oh well, I think and hope Jeff gorton learnt his leasson after signing Panarin. I assume PLD thinks he will get 8+ but, I doubt Montreal should offer more then 7 mil so he knows his place, behind Suzuki and Caufield. That should keep his ego incheck and maybe not starting a shit show in Montreal aswell.

For the 250 time, he will not be with the Jets by the first of 1 July or if he still with Jets, cant they use the arbitraion stuff to protect themself from offer-sheets?
 
all the talk about pld signing a low offer sheet is soo f***ing stupid and absolutely zero actual thought put into it.. jets will trade him to a contending team for a year before an offer sheet is even possible... and if he signs a cheap offer sheet the contending team that traded for him would very much welcome that

Dvorak has two years left at 4,45M$ AAV. He had a difficult seasons since he's with us, but than again, everyone had it rough on the Habs in the last two years. He was solid in Arizona tho and might be able to turn it around. He'd be a "band-aid" for Winnipeg's center depth

Hoffman is in his last year at 4,5M AAV. By now, everybody knows what's the deal with him, he's pretty much a cap dump. Useful on PP, but a liability in defense. If the Jets tanks this year, they could try to flip him at the tdl. If they don't do it, Hoffman is gone at the end of the year anyway

1st Florida will either be 31th or 32th.

Harris and Barron are solid defenseman prospects. They're not stars, but both of them will end up with a job in the NHL for sure. If Winnipeg take the rebuild route, they could be nice pieces

Both Beck and Roy are incredible prospects. IMO in the depth chart, they are behind only Hutson and "maybe" Mailloux. Beck is a great two ways center. Roy is a super solid winger, and he can do the defensive plays too, à la Toffoli

Vancouver Horvat was head and shoulders above Winnipeg Dubois.
 
When it comes to PLD it is buyer beware, even for MTL. He has all the tools to be an absolute dominant power forward 1C but is most certainly not a team player.

I can see COL or BOS being good interim fits for PLD as both are very competitive and not small market cities like Colombus or Winnipeg. An experience living in those cities may very well persuade him to sign longer term. If MTL thinks he is just going to walk over when he is a UFA they are completely underestimating and draw of larger hockey markets. Hughes is no doubt aware of this so value of acquiring PLD to MTL will not be peanuts. But like I said, PLD comes with a pattern of being selfish and disruptive when he does not get his way.

Fine but you guys have Barzal and Nelson at center, think about it as a Montreal fan in this case.

28 goals for a team starving for goals, would have been our best goal scorer last year, at 6ft4 physical 2nd line center, you don't think MTL should have any interest?
 
You’d think he was an elite player for all the off-ice drama that follows him. But nope, he’s never even hit 65 points.

Montreal can't do that since they don't have their second round pick.

Another team, like Carolina, could pitch him a fair $6.4M OS and only give up a presumably late first and third, which therefore should be the floor trade compensation.

It's assumed that the Jets will trade him before July 1 for something more than that.

Any team attempting to dumpster dive with a $4.25M offer sheet will just cost Dubois money, and the second round compensation wouldn't be worth it so the Jets would simply match (not ideal for the Jets obviously, but at some point, the value of keeping a top 6 center outweighs poor trade compensation).

The Jets would not welcome that if it was a 1 year OS since we wouldn't be able to trade him afterwards.
