CGY 1st is off the table for sure. So are Farrell Mesar and Kidney

It's Harris, Mysak, Tuch, maybe Kapanen, but we are keeping our top10 prospects.
I think the Jets will get a much better offer elsewhere. But i agree, Hughes has no reason to make an attractive offer for PLD. He will be pitching garbage to Chevy.

Chevy is screwed. I think his best bet will be to trade him at the trade deadline, retain half to a contender and get a 1st rd pick and B prospect back.

Honestly, the sense I got with the stuff that happened in Columbus and now in Winnipeg is that PLD is burned out on hockey and is mainly focusing on money/lifestyle. His interview responses really gave off that impression.

To that extent I think he's looking to live in Montreal or NYC/LA while making his money.

For PLD i would easily trade any of those 3 none of them are A prospects or special

Roy,Mailloux and Hutson are the prospects i woudlnt wanna trade

Its a 1st rder + B prospect + Cap dump, like Horvat.

They MAY get a better offer but the team trading for him will want to negotiate and extension, and if PLD says "I am heading to MTL" the offers will not be there.

Best bet IMO is to take FLA 1st + Harris + Dvorak, they can trade Harris somewhere else as a young top4 dman after and hope Dvorak increases his value before the TDL to trade him elsewhere. With all that was said, Jets won't get a better offer.

We can send the 2026 MTL 1st tho if they'd rather have that. Not sending the 2024 or 2025 pick as we'll stil be tanking, but should he a top10 team in 2026.

Chevy has the worst GM job in hockey. GM of a team with a passionate fan base but in an undesirable city for entitled hockey players. He has to manage assets to minimize loss while fielding a competitive enough team to keep the fans in the seats.

And on top of that, he has locker-room cancers and a prima donna to deal with.

Should have been a crab fisherman.

Horvat. A PPG centre got a late 1st, a B prospect and a cap dump.

It's only natural that, for a worse player. jets get a similar pick, a bit of a lesser prospect and a similar cap dump.

Amen.

As I understand it, this is actually the third trade request he's made in his career, including junior.
I couldn't find anything that dived into what happened with the Eagles in 2016-17 that precipitated him asking for a trade.

I can't fault a player for not wanting to play for Tortorella. I wouldn't either. Wanting out of Columbus gets a pass from me.

He's been vocal for more than a year that he didn't want to extend in Winnipeg, which is his prerogative. Is it a pattern? Sure. Is he alone? No. It's simply that he's been vocal about it. I don't care how much you get paid, staying somewhere you don't want to be weighs on you. The league's rules afford him the ability to move, one way or another.

In three seasons, it hasn't stopped him from being an effective player. He hasn't sulked and tanked his play. People have wondered if there's something in the water in Winnipeg for a while, and it always revolves around Wheeler, Scheifele and perhaps Hellebuyck.

Chevy waiting as long as he has to do something has impacted value imo. I'll wait until we see what the Jets can get for him before I cast any judgment on the acquiring team. I think PLD is a really good top six player that, depending on whether he plays wing or center, can easily slot on either of the top lines.

I'd be willing to give him a long term deal, but clauses would be a non-starter. I want to retain the ability to move on as much as he might.

He will give him his 6.5m qualifying offer. If he doesn’t sign…arbitration. If he offer sheets Chevy says…please be Montreal we would love to have 1st overall pick next year and cap space. If he doesn’t report PLD is suspended and jets get even more cap space. Trade him at the TDL at 50% .

The worrying part is having a team like Carolina make an offer sheet for Dubois. That would limit Jets' compensation to a likely late first and a third round draft pick. That should be the absolute floor for compensation.

While I thought about TDL deals before, I agree that we NEED to make a deal before July 1 to prevent a Carolina from swooping in for a discounted offer sheet deal.

There are teams that need top 6 centers. I just hope there is enough interest to create a bit of a bidding war to pump up his trade compensation value.

Why would anyone touch this guy?
Teams tend to try desperate measures when they don't have two solid centers locked up.

Chevy has the worst GM job in hockey. GM of a team with a passionate fan base but in an undesirable city for entitled hockey players. He has to manage assets to minimize loss while fielding a competitive enough team to keep the fans in the seats.

He seems to be really limited by the owners

The Jets won't trade him for futures. Cheveldayoff already said they won't rebuild (he will probably get canned if they do).

There are rumblings that the Jets will likely be trading Scheifele and Hellebuyck.

While the Jets said initially that they are not rebuilding... if conversations went bad with Hellebuyck, they just might be forced down that road.

It’s funny how hab fans get their panties all wet thinking they have some kind of leverage in a PLD trade. Lebrun is Brissons puppet and only releases the question that he wants the press to know about but doesn’t leak Chevys answer.

Brisson goes to Chevy and says he would like to work on a trade with PLD. What do you think Chevys answer was? I guarantee it was…GMs make trades, agents don’t, climb back in your hole and go screw yourself.

Why didn’t brisson leak what Chevys answer was? The answer is because he didn’t like the answer. Chevy isn’t about to be controlled by some slimy agent. No GM is going to. That would be the first step for any GM to get fired cause that would mean they let the clowns run the players and not the GM. And to think Chevy a going to have to give up PLD AND take back some cap dump like Anderson, Dvorak Gallagher, Armia or any of the waste of skin that play for Montreal is hilarious. He isn’t doing Montreal any favours. There would be a bidding war. Jeannot got great prospect, a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and likely won’t be resigned by Tampa…so they would have to backup the truck for the haul the Jets would get….and the will be no cap dump in that trade.

Brisson just played his last card cause he knows Chevy has him cornered. You don’t leak a question that you asked and got answered if you had any leverage. Brisson just caused a shitstorm for PLD. Has no affect on the Jets at all.

And for those that think the Jets couldn’t get the 5OA this year for PLD, you are just fooling yourself. That piece of glass reclamation project Dach got 13th and 66th which has around 10th value, Debrinct got 7th. A 6’4” power center is going to bring back 5OA plus Floridas 1st. If the Habs want another favor of including a dump I think Calgarys 1st would have to be added.

Looks like Brisson played his last card.

Don't expect a bidding war at the TD if Dubois play like he did before leaving Columbus after requesting a trade. You can be assure that he wil not give a shit on the ice for the entire season after requesting a trade if he's force to stay in Winnipeg

His value will be a late 2nd rounder at best, you can bet on this.

Columbus and Winnipeg beat writer already wrote this year that PLD told them he's going to sign in MTL as soon as he can and even Friedman said it's 95% sure he's a MTL player at worst next summer.

Yes Winnipeg can trade him wherever they want but you can be sure the other GM will want to talk with him and Brisson to find out if he's going to care if they trade for him.

Trade him back to Columbus
I think we have some used hockey pucks we can scrounge up as a trade return.

A fair deal would have us send Caufield, Suzuki and Xhekaj to Winnipeg for Dubois because he is a star after all.:sarcasm: He is a good player but I am not in love with the fact that he wants out of his second NHL team and I am left to wonder if he will be the same way after a few years under the microscope in Montreal.

Completely understand where he is coming from. I make much less money than PLD, but still earn a very good livelihood and it's impossible to enjoy life here in Winnipeg. This is not where any young, multi millionaire would want to live.

I think that it would be neat if the Canadiens decided that they don’t want him.
If i am Hughes, i would tell Chevy that i have keen interest, then would pitch junk at him (Dvorak +). Then tell Brisson that Chevy is not playing nice and that the Habs would love to sign PLD as a UFA next year.

Basically, be a dick.

Do you think it's really better in Columbus?
