Seems like the perfect guy to bring into the culture of the Habs as they bring up teenagers into rich, popular athletes!

Nyi center depth has nothing to do with Montreal’s depth. The only reason they’d want PLD is their francophilia. It’s a stupid way to run a team. But they’re doin it.

All of this is part of the reason I'm in no rush to pay full market value for PLD, and if it means he ends up elsewhere, I'm ok with that. There is a non-negligible risk he ends up being inconsistent and pouty and becomes a locker-room issue... if not an active problem, he might well not end up being worth the kind of contractual commitment he expects to get.

For prospects (other than LHD prospects) i can see the Habs parting with any of the following:

Mesar / Kidney / Farrell and Tuch, FLA 1st and Calgary 1st (in 2025/2026).

I think the Habs covet Joshua Roy, Owen Beck, Barron, Guhle, Mailloux and Xhekaj and they are likely off the table.

Agreed, I've never hated on Harris, I think he's more of a puck moving D, borderline top 4 potential but a fine prospect.........just doesn't fill any needs on the Jets. LHD and a puck moving one to boot is the last thing the Jets need.

Jets needs are centers and RHD.......and potentially a 1A or 1B goalie. Guess what the Habs biggest needs are also? haha

You must be stupid if you think that Jeff Gorton and Ken Hughes value PLD mainly for his language.

refer to KK to canes, but reversed offer of lowball 1 year deal so little compensation for jets, than front load the 8 year extended contract. nothing against it that I am aware of.

Dubois took Matthews to the wood shed in the playoffs. But the playoffs mean more outside Toronto.

So 7 more points in 9 more games, was he better? Sure. Head and shoulder ahead of him, not really no. Dubois was injured last year and after his hip injury he didn't produce as much.

Dubois was producing really well for a 2nd line center last year behind Scheifele. How many 2nd line center scores 27 goals last year?

How is Dubois on the wing? Maybe a three-way trade involving Debrincat and another team or just the assets from a Debrincat trade. Ottawa is close enough to Montreal.
 
This "rumor" that Dubois wanted to be traded in junior is bullshit. It's a lie. People should stop mindlessly repeating it.

With that being said, even though you can find mitigating circumstances as to why a player might want out, I wouldn't be very interested by a guy like Dubois right now. He seems moody. Hasn't been particularly consistent either. I understand that he is a big, talented center but his attitude makes it difficult to commit.

As far as the Habs are concerned, the timing is particularly good either. This isn't a year to compete or upgrade the talent for futures. The team should be building and developing with 2024, 25, 26 in mind.

There will be interest for this guy by many teams, but the Jets won't get a king's ransom.

IN the NHL by far his time is spent as a center, that being said in his junior days he was a winger. PLD has said publicly many times he wants to be a center and not a winger..........if a team planned to use him as a winger might effect his decision to extend with them. IMO

I am crying from laughter! So much bitterness at a fan base that are innocent bystanders in the PLD saga.

In fact, one could argue the Habs fans are victims here. Victims of PLD's hopes, desires and prima donna nature.

Why do the Habs have to accommodate a trade? Just because PLD is french? Nah, i feel for the Habs organization and their fans, having to deal with this unnecessary drama.

As for Winnipeg fans, i think you guys have to understand that the heart wants what the heart wants. Its not you, its PLD. Well, in fairness it is a bit of both. But At least he's not breaking up with you via text. Just hold onto the memories. The good times.

Pld would be a fit in vancouver, but if the jets don’t want 11th overall, just cant see it working.
 
I don't think the Habs will deal 5OA.....but value wise I wonder how close PLD & 18OA for 5OA & salary player for cap reasons is?
