No thank you. I’d take JT for the $7M max I have in my 2C slot, but under no circumstances would any of my plans include paying $11M to my 2C.

You literally acknowledge he isn’t the same player which seemed predictable given his age and always mediocre-at-best skating. He was never going to be elite well into his 30’s like the contract was paying him.

You’re willingly handcuffing yourself. That’s a bad plan. For all the money they have in that ivory tower, you’d think someone might have known this.

If I recall correctly, at the time I was concerned about the JT contract in the final years but I expected him to be a 35/35 guy still and with a $100M cap in year or two it would have been ok. You might be younger but my personal plan was to start really contending now and have a real chance in the next few years and even winning one cup would have be enough.

Thanks for the discussion.

Agreed on that last one for sure. If they reach that destination, nobody cares about the route.

Cheers.

So in other words, a complete and utter load of shit that you took seriously enough to post about.
It was a releable guy sire. So I think he was hearing about the whole chicago insident today earlier. It was concerning the bowman step off, not the dubas one it seems. But he knew something for surely, it was not about the leafs though, but about the blackhawks. This is very dramatic dirt right thurr sire and bowman getting caught. Now quenneville and cheveldayoff are getting theirs next. Chicago already got a 2mil fine sire.

It's super hard to assemble a winning hockey team. Must be the hardest trophy in sports.

Failure is likely.

But it's clear things haven't worked. And the trend line is bad. And ..... the players mail it in more than reasonable.

It's time to be bold. Fire Dubas or Shanny at a minimum before Christmas.

That's assuming the goal is winning. And I already know that's not the goal. The goal is money.

If the goal was money they wouldn't have kissed off (35 million?) by firing Babcock.

What are the results? I'm not joining Twitter to find out.

Dean blundell is such a tool.

But this poll is pretty funny. Mind sharing the results for those of us who don't use twitter?

based on at the time of this post

I’ve heard it all day, the apathy of the fan base, ticket sales down, ratings dogshit. I’ll guarantee MLSE is acutely aware of the sentiment and there are some serious talks happening as we speak. This may be the most hated team we’ve seen and that’s saying something.

It is amazing the kind of trend am seeing too. During the salute gate and then horachek era fans were ticked off but they were still engaged. Then when scortched earth happened with both Lou and Babs hired fans were again excited.

after dubas was hired the CBJ series, then Habs series and the start now alot of the fans have stopped caring. this is a first for me based on what i am seeing in the leafs nation

Only because of the Big 4 contract negotiations. Each had big mistakes..... Everything else filling in the team is fine and done a decent job at it with such a limited flexibility.

Nylander - shouldn't have had him holdout to Dec 1 but term and but term and aav is okay
Marner - too much aav, but am ok with term
Matthews - aav is fine but should have been 8 years
Tavares - an unneeded ufa addition, if JT wanted to be a Leaf that bad should have gotten a much bigger discount

Rielly - subtle thing but he should have been captain imo.

They kissed that money away long before he was fired, it was gone as soon as he signed here. The only financial loss is whatever they've been paying Keefe the last couple of years to be babysitter during games. The goal always has been and always will be money, which is why it's far more important to Dubas that the superstars are happy, even at the team's expense. Its very clear that every decision he's made is about placating the stars to the detriment of our success. The contracts, the coaches, the dress codes, whatever. It all makes the players happy but makes it less likely we'll ever win. It's so insulting that Lou got rid of the country club only for Dubas to come along and open it right back up.

Winning brings in money.

Just because you say he is reliable doesn't mean he is.

As for the rest of your post, it is unintelligible gibberish.

The man was right sire. The only thang was the rumor hit chicago and their gm, not toronto. Also that is the exact reason I used the word: rumor. That means it is not true yet sire. I was right also because of it. I know everythang about life and all thangs like heaven, clowds and water and fire all together. So I will always be right. The end. I know everythang about life sire.

It's hard to be a Dubas fan right now.

I'm trying to remain rational and hopeful but the "there's always next year" mantra is a little tough when it really seems like the Leafs just shed depth and...that's really it.

What an atrocious offseason.

Hopefully Kyle can right the ship but the contracts are choking this team and we basically just had to watch it happen last summer.

Fair. I'm not familiar with Keller's specific skill set as I rarely watch the Yotes so I can't really speak to that... but if they can get similar playmaking effect with a better shooting threat and a better attitude it's definitely something worth considering.

We agree on the need for strength down the middle and I'm with it for Tavares at $7M, but for the price of him and Kerfoot (14,5M) they could have 3 very good centremen who can star in their roles. They still don't have a 3rd centre but I actually like Kampf as a 4th centre. He's a little sweet for my taste but he's a smart player that knows how to play without the puck. Too bad he isn't a little better with it.
Im not getting the love that people have for Kamp or Kase...
Kampf 7gms 0 0 0 -5

Kase 7gm 1 0 1 -5

The leafs haven't won a cup in 5 decades and they are worth 2 Billion

For now.

For the first time I can recall, there is a tangible sense of apathy setting in within a significant segment of the fan base, including hard core Leaf fans.

That should be very concerning for MLSE.
