Speculation: 2025 TDL Discussion

With all the match-up centers on the market I'd say go shop Danault.

We can replace him with a Laughton, Gourde, B. Schenn, Evans, Pageau, Frederic etc.

King's biggest need is a "Star" player. Just a big name to market. Thought Seth Jones & E. Karlsson might be good targets for the media & easy to acquire. Rantanen would fit that. Really hope we don't end up paying Marner a ridiculous amount .

Next biggest need is center depth. Young Byfield, aging Danault & 40 year (rounding) old Kopi isn't making the playoffs next year. King's hanging in the playoffs because Flames & Vancouver are having horrific years. Guessing they are over paying Bennett or a huge offer sheet on Rossi. Outside of that, you're betting on guys like Cozens to become a center or reclamation projects like E. Petterson or Courtier (Philly).

Moore, hopefully he's moved for a checking forward or an expiring contract just to clear the cap space.

Doughty, he no longer belongs on the top pair. Has missed half the year 2 times in the last 4. Not pulling his 11AAV. Dump him anywhere that'll take him before the draft. After re-signing our best D, Gavrikov, there isn't enough cap left to improve the team with Kopi & Doughty not performing up to their cap hits. I like Kopi, but he's aging & unlikely to earn that AAV next year. Not his fault.

Prospects, dump whatever is needed for average vets to continue getting bumped in the first round.

I'm more willing to bet that Ovechkin sat PLD down and told him he wasn't going to take his crap and to straighten up.
Todd getting himself fired for getting in a pissing contest with the GM's big off-season trade is just funny. Job of the coach is to get the most out of the team. Todd failed epically as we can now see PL is a decent top 6 center.

Its going to be a great look for the franchise to have traded their 1st rounder at a draft they are hosting in exchange for a rental and missing the playoffs.

I know I shouldn't care about this minor irreverent trade, but I can't help it.

This trade gets on my NERVES. It triggers my OCD.

Why are you giving up a draft pick for a player who CLEARY was incapable of playing in the NHL at the time? Did they watch the tape on him? Any amateur hockey fan could've seen this guy was unplayable.

Anyways. I guess it gets on my nerves so much because it's microcosm.

They've made it clear this years isn't play, not with the draft in LA.

Tonight's horrible effort, plus the lack of scoring AGAIN makes it all but certain they're trading for someone who can do it, and do it consistently . 4 goals in 3 games, 1 pp goal in the last 27 attempts has to be addressed.

Jealous that you were in Thailand, one of my favorite sports on Earth.

Demidov's value exceeds Clarke's right now, and probably by a significant margin. He will very likely step right in to Montreal's lineup, just like Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky and Hutson have (It's possible, Glen Murray!) and give them three years of offensive production on an ELC (It's possible, Rob Blake)
Thanks! I met my wife to be here last year in Bangkok...came back and married her in Lampang, North country near Chiang Mai...Chiang Mai is great! But, Kai grew up in a village in Lampang...was crazy to stay there a few weeks at her parents place..no plumbing! And only enough electricity for lights. I was ready to leave after 2 days there, but didn't want to offend her family....bucket of water showers...going to bathroom in an outhouse. I now know why Kai has the character she does...living there until age 18, before going to university in Bangkok. We applied for a USA tourist visa and got rejected!! Came down to her getting the worst agent of all of them. I could not go inside with her...she noticed one agent was bitttchy and rejecting all...of course, Kai was assigned to her line...she saw others get their visa...so, we applied for a Canada one and if she gets it, we will go to Van, Cal, Banff 2-3 weeks and I will take her to Nucks or Flames game,...but Kings only play in Edm in April and since Kai is a big Kings fan and never gone to a game, I may have to go to that Edm game. Life goal to live 50/50 USA and Jomtien Beach, near pattaya. Where have you been to here? We live in Phuket, but thousands of Russians now live here, since war...I think 85% of our condo resort is Russians,,,not a problem, it's just weird. Most are not firendly...maybe because of leaving russia? Every day is about 88-92 degrees here. I miss Colorado seasons right now.

Back to hockey. Yes, Demidov is out of reach. I was shocked Chi didn't take him. Bedard-Demidov next 15 yrs. I still have hopes for QB and at least tonight he threw 3 hard checks! Again, he doesn't have to be a Tkachuk, but please use that 6'5" 230 frame and be more physical...it helps wear others down and they should have some fear, when you're out there.

MTL has Hage, who was taken with Kings pick. And Calgary #1. I don't see them dealing QB, but I was poking around and heard some disturbing info that dev staff / scouts believe in Clarke, more than mgmt / coaches so atm...maybe not to a large degree, but enough...maybe he's just takes too many chances and not physical enough in d zone? But I also heard DD is almost having too much of a voice who plays...and may have influenced this. if true, sucks.

If they are to actually deal Clarke, make teams bid against each other.
MTL - Evans + Hage or Calgary #1
BUF - Byram + Cozens (rest of this yr 100% retained) Kings probably add here. Or take a chance on Quinn with no add. Byram + Quinn. I like Kulich, but they're not dealing him or Peterka.
CHI - Levshunov? Consider Clarke w Bedard would be lethal and Levshunov more Kings type.
Maybe Levshunov could break in with Gavrikov as partner. I honestly think this would be a good match.
Levshunov apparently started off slow in AHL, but last month is playing well. And Clarke would blossom in Chicago and they would not so much miss Levshunov, never even had him play on Hawks. I honestly think a team will pay a hefty price for Brandt.

Image: Clarke - Faber similar offense numbers...+/-. Yes, Faber all situations, stud 200 feet...BUT...really?
You're telling me Clarke is not > Moverare, Spence, Edmundson and a detriment?

this image needs to be FULL. If they are stupid enough to deal Clarke, it will go down as the worst King deal...since PLD.
Yes, Faber is much better defensively and all situations...but Clarke has an incredible future and will be scoring 65 pts annually and he will still be +10 or more.
If Jiricek gets a #1, #2, #3 and Daemon Hunt, I'm wanting:
Mtl - Evans + Hage (or Evans + Calgary #1) Honestly, Evans, Armia, Hage would be great. Evans extended.
Buf - Byram + Quinn (or Cozens and add something) Byram extended. Or Byram + Krebs (a real 4th C)
Chi - Levshunov

The Kings cannot ice 11 NHL forwards and that's such a huge issue. Both Evans + Armia would go a long way
to helping solidify up front...both have 10 goals...the same as Moore and 1 less than QB.
It's not like they're Lewis, Jeannot, Thomas. Hage is having a big Freshman yr. Could possibly be a yr away from signing. Mtl would have Lane and Clarke. Buf - Dahlen, Power, Clarke. Chi - Clarke would be #1 D there by next year. I think it may take Levshunov some time to have an impact. Kings could still have him play next yr in AHL or to start.
