For all who may have a Koskinen jersey in your closet, problem solved!

How many people have one of those jerseys in the closet besides Chiarelli who bought himself one after Koski's first 10 games in the NHL?

Why don't all NHL players have work visas that allow them to work in Canada/USA? Seems odd that they all don't have them when they obviously all play games in both nations all season long. Considering trades/waivers can happen at any time... seems only logical that all NHL players should have them up to date.

How hard is it for Russian citizens to get new work visas right now as well I wonder?

I hope this works out. If a guy that has all the tools but no toolbox can’t find the toolbox playing for Berube, he ain’t never gonna find it. I’m sure Berube probably showed him how to build a frickin toolbox. Craig was a similar type guy.
That's one good thing about making deals with STL... They develop the basics right..
This kid maybe just needed a change of scenery and playing on a line with McLeod, Benson, Foegele or even Holloway would be different than who he has had as linemates in STL

Foreign born players playing for American teams don't require a work visa on road games to Canada. Foreign born players playing for a Canadian team need a work visa to play in Canada. My assumption is a player can't just get the work permit "just in case" they are traded to Canada.

I hope we get to see him relatively soon. I hope someone can clarify the waiver rules. How long can he stay up with the big club, number of games played, before he would have to be waived when sent down to Bakersfield.

Benson, Yamamoto and Foegele don't have to be rushed back into the line-up. If either of Yamamoto or Foegele are place on the LTIR we could start the year... the first month with a 23 man roster.

With so many clubs up against the cap there is going to be plenty of trickery and even the most astute regarding the CBA will learn something new. Lots of player juggling, the waiver wire is going to be non-stop all season.

30 days or 10 games, I believe.

Something bad is in oilers develipwmwnt system. Young talents seems to get less NHL ready. Why. Samurukov will be a legit NHLer, but not here. I wonder what happpend.

You’re absolutely right. The Oilers paid opposing team players all the way back to before he was drafted to target him so he’d have injuries each time he’d be close to taking a next step. They do this with all of their prospects so only the very strongest survive and make it to the big club

Put Samarukov in the same category as Ethan Bear, Caleb jones, William Lagesson etc.... Another middle to low end draftee who the Oilers took a flier on and hoped they would turn out to be more than their pedigree. Hopefully Niemeleinen can break that trend.

I wonder why other teams can make finds, but Oilers are stuck with 3rd pair defenders who can barley skate.
Marinoand E. Gustafsson is the odd man off that rule. But they leaved this organisation.
Maybe a smart move....

E.Bear though doesnt seem to strike higher than a 4D . That Bear-Fogele trade seems to be a wash today.

Why Im so pissy? Well, I thought Niemilainen and Samurukov would be more promising than the last generation Ds.

Well, well. Lets go back and be frustrated about Oilers Right wing instead.

Nurse, Kulak, Broberg, Murray, and Neimelainen on the left. Right now he's probably playing 2nd pairing in Bakersfield

WTF are you talking about? Broberg is going to be fine, Bouchard is looking awesome, Nemo is looking like he's going to make it, Yamo is good as is Jesse (both just need to work on consistency), Holloway is good, BG is good, Petrov is good, Savoie has flashes etc....Maybe, just maybe it's a combination of the player being passed by due to injuries or just not making the grade?
When others are succeeding around him and passing him by, it's not the system.

Just the first page!

I couldn't resist.
I don't get this trade. Kostin will never amount to anything, and Samorukov might still end up a bottom-pairing guy. What is the upside of this trade for us? Makes no sense.

Magic beans for magic beans at this point. Doubt either player ever ends up as more than a tweener.

I don't think Kostin is very good. Tyler Benson is more productive than Kostin at the AHL level so i don't see what Kostin brings to the table except that he's 6'4.

Project for project. Most Blues fans I'm seeing say Kostin sucks, so eh.

Both once hyped prospects who have kind of went no where. I think Samorukov has higher potential still but it’s a whatever trade.

Have to say I probably prefer the Russian who plays D and came over to North America as a junior age to develop his game. Unfortunately with two young LD ahead of him on a mature phase organization trying to win deep, Samorukov is locked out.

This shifts some organization depth to forward. Not sure the Oil gain much in this deal.

Not a huge fan of the trade. Samo has more upside imo

Samo is up with the Blues, I wonder if he gets in a game? I hope he does well, a win-win trade would be great, the Oilers get a useful player and a guy many like succeeds
It really seemed like Samo was going to be gone one way or another.

Even at the time if Kostin was only going to be an AHLer for us that was fine, as we lacked depth in the AHL.

Kostin could retire tomorrow and I think it is a win on our side.

Haha. Okay ... got me I guess.

I've saw this team's defense as a massive issue for a long time with little NHL ready support. And Russian players who don't stick in North America often choose to return and play in their Motherland. Oh, for context post my follow up comment on page 7 :)

Kostin embraced a bottom six role, says how he loves this team, and has deliver a hard, skilled game that's moving him up the line up and addressing its passivity, softness issue. Happy to be wrong... now fix the defense.
