I don't think Kostin is very good. Tyler Benson is more productive than Kostin at the AHL level so i don't see what Kostin brings to the table except that he's 6'4.
Benson was more productive than Draisaitl at AHL-level means nothing. Kostin is more productive than Benson at NHL level where it counts, Kostin is also a better skater and shooter, and will drop the gloves and hits hard

Some of you are really overrating Samorukov. He's been passed by multiple defencemen since being drafted, and is not even close to cracking the top 7 defencemen (unless you consider 9-10 on the depth chart close). I liked the idea of him, but he's not beating Broberg or Nemo to the NHL, and at that point you kind of have to cut your losses.

We have plenty of depth D (once again I'm pointing this out to you). We need a low cost, tough 4th liner that has shown some skill (like Kostin). I'm hoping this will work out for both, but this fills a need for us.
We do indeed. I figured years ago he’d be a top 4 one of these days. Just me holding onto homerism lmao

I'm sure someone else has said this already but I'd love to see Foegele Ryan Kostin as our fourth line. Not big on Shore.

Shore was put on waivers today. I’d guess that’s our 4th line as well.

Kane-McDavid-Yamamoto
Holloway-Drai-Hyman
McLeod-RNH-Pulju
Foegele-Ryan-Kostin

Nurse-Ceci
Kulak-Bouchard
Murray-Barrie
Broberg

Campbell
Skinner

We are absolutely loaded up front, that is a lot of depth, speed, and skill up front.

I don’t mind this trade for the same reason I didn’t mind Bear-Foegele. It shows that Holland era Oilers can find pretty fair 1 for 1 swaps of surplus assets. In this case we have a surplus of 3RD, in Bears case it was a surplus of 3LD. I really couldn’t see Samo beating Murray or Nemo for a spot so might as well turn him into a different type of asset. Past Oilers management may have just let a prospect Samo turn into nothing.

Don’t know a lot about Kostin but he’s got an enticing package of tools and has already shown he can hang in the NHL with limited minutes. Not a bad shot to take and we need what he could potentially bring to our bottom 6.

Man Woody really dislikes Shore. Dunno why, he’s not bad.

I don’t mind Shore. See flashes of his skill set. Seems like a great team guy. But he bleeds goals against. I don’t think hes a top 12 forward but hes a nice injury call up.

That being said, I am not sure what our roster ends up looking like.
I don’t buy the narrative that a 5 minute ice time guy on a 4th line can be statistically specified to bleed goals. Some how I don’t think the sample sizes for that role can support that kind of assessment. Atleast without eye test backing, and I’ve never thought Shore to be a defensive liability just watching him play.

Kostin and Shore's fates are kind of tied to Broberg.

If they decide to keep Bro up, then Kostin or Malone get that last roster spot. If they end up sending Broberg down and replacing him with Niemo or Demers, they'll have enough money for Shore on the roster.

Shore is a busy player but doesn't seem to get a lot done.
I think you could say that for most every 4th liner.. it’s the nature of that position where doesn’t get a lot done is like the norm. Shores barely noticeable, until he is, if given a bit of time and space he can execute a skill play at a higher clip than most 4th liners IMO.
