Wait, are there seriously people who want to trade the pick? I think we would have to be totally blown away by an offer, and we won't be.

I think we should take Slafkovsky and not think about it too hard. We've lucked into being able to select a talent that we didn't think would be available at our original slot. No way we should pass that up.
Draft Slaf and don't look back.

THE END.

Roll credits.

That's not nearly artsy enough. First of all, it should be shot in black and white. Then, Fitz should force all the prospects to drink kerosene. The prospects see Fitz morph into the Devil but it's just an illusion. Then Jack Hughes washes up on the shore in front of Slaf who cradles him in his arms before Slaf realizes that Hughes isn't really there. Then Fitz can do something vaguely reminiscent of an ancient morality tale, but it turns out it's the wrong morality tale. I can see it now. It will be Oscar worthy and not at all two hours of my life and $10 I can't get back.

if we have a hole at RD, would it be crazy to go after a UFA RD?

like maybe klingberg or manson? lyubushkin (who ppl have talked about)?
Just curious why you asked if it would be crazy to sign a UFA RD? Klingberg would be crazy but a cheap UFA on a short term deal is definitely a possibility.

That probably means contract talks with Severson have stalled to what was reported with him at the deadline if they went that direction. I wouldn't want Klingberg and Manson has declined a lot over the past couple of years though. So the answer's honestly tough about RD as of right now.

There are a few older guys that can probably work on a third pair but does a guy like Rutta want to leave TB for maybe a two year two million dollar deal instead of a one year one million dollar deal to stay in TB?

Troy Stetcher caught my eye, always liked him from his Vancouver days and has played well for LAK in the playoffs.

So we're not even going to give him a chance on this team and just deal him away because...reasons, eh?
If the red flags are piling up I'd rather deal him than let him tank his value like Ty Smith.

I'd jump for joy if Holtz developed into Fiala...so why not just turn him into the sure thing?

Why in the world are we trying to trade Holtz after we've already invested 2 years into his development and he is NHL ready? Trading a draft pick is one thing, but he should be NHL ready next year. He is coming off a productive year as well so this makes no sense.

Keep Holtz and our 2nd pick. We have the opportunity to have an elite team in a few years with having all this young talent on the roster but several potential players on ELC's. Make the right short-term additions, and this team can be elite.

"In a few years"? It's do or die next year #Seversontaughtme

Because there is a what 6 year age gap and Holtz is essentially NHL ready on a 3 year ELC starting next year. Another benefit to Holtz is that he is a righty. We have plenty of lefties, plus if we draft Slaf, that would be another.

We aren't winning the cup under almost any circumstance next year so yes, a few years.

It's do or die for playoffs or else the front office is gone next offseason. That's more what I mean...

I'm also not putting Holtz in the Top 6 in October, maybe March if he's earned. Don't underestimate Mercer.

Mercer will end up being a superior player to Holtz, and that's no slight on Holtz. Mercer is going to be absolutely phenomenal, certainly a part of the Devils core for a long, long time.

I believe Mercer is going to be a top 6 player so I am not underestimating him, but we need another right shot.

Holtz does not have to be in the top 6 in October, its about the long-term.

It's not do or die next year. They have to be in the hunt, but if they fall short as 9th in the conference, Fitz won't be fired.
