I just want to "control our own destiny" so to speak. We have one more Rags game left. Should be fun.

We also have a Boston game late in the year when they've already clinched.

Flyers and caps have pretty brutal schedules and Detroit is pretty banged up. Columbus is making a push and the NYR are currently in a spot. Based on schedule and how tight things are, unless the flyers and caps knock off some good teams, I think they both fall a few points short in the end. That leave CLB, NYR, DET, and NJD fighting for 3 spots. 2nd And 3rd in the Metro and one of the two wild cards.

I think CLB and the NYR will be #2 and #3 and we're probably going to fight it out with Detroit for that last wildcard spot. Our team has been fairly wishy-washy and we've pissed away enough points to have been solidly in a playoff spot this year. That said, I think we can squeeze in and if we play Pittsburg could give them a run but unless this D realy steps up and we get more secondary scoring from the likes of Brunner, Clowe, Zubrus, Bernier, I don;t think our top offensive guys can carry the load and perhpas we fal l in 6 games.

Making the playoffs would be an accomplishment for this team after that horrible start and again, pissing away so many games along with our o-fer shootout record.

If somehow we manage to step into the #2 or 3 spot in the Metro, I think we could win a round but I just don;t see it against Boston or Sh-tsburgh.

Still lots of time! We could be a different animal after the Olympic break. Will just have to wait and see.

Boston? No.

The Pens? I disagree. They still have FLEURY in goal and that's always a dicey situation for them.

If last year's Isle's team can give them a run, we could.

Boston I agree would wreck us. Boston in 5 and I think I am being nice.

I agree with this assessment. Flyers schedule and the team they have they will have a hard time. Caps are a horrible 5 on 5 team, and combine that with their schedule and ya I just don't see it happening.

Wings are banged up but you CAN'T sleep on them. I still think they would be the the hardest to catch.

I have no clue about the Jackets, they are very streaky. Rags should have enough, but you never know. That was a bad loss to the Canes for them. It really means a lot for us to beat Tampa in regulation this weekend. They are still floundering and if we can help get that first wildcard spot in play our odds definitely go up.

We just have to catch someone. If we can get into a spot, keeping it is a lot easier then chasing it.

That'd be awesome. I've got a $100 bet with one of my Rangers fan friends, that we agreed to at the beginning of the year. A late season come back would be hilarious.

I got a case of beer bet with my Flyers fan friend. I think it looks pretty good given our schedule vs. theirs.

Call me crazy but I think we've got favorable odds. Philly has a brutal schedule. Detroit and their injuries are catching up. The Rags are off and on. Columbus looks good to get at least one position. I think Washington is done. Also, I see Tampa missing the playoffs as they've not been the same without St Louis. We need to win the two Florida games and get at least 6 points in the tough stretch (Boston, Minnesota, NYR, Toronto) then we'll be in a good position. If we do make it in, the only team that scares me is Boston. I think we'd beat the Pens in 6 as they don't like a forechecking game much at all. So if we manage to get in, please someone knock off Boston.

There is no way we are winning 3 out of 4 against that tough stretch of games.

I would be pleasantly stunned.

Those are tough teams and I do agree, but we're also potentially helped out a bit.. Bruins play the Wild at 7:30 the night before our game.. Rangers play at Columbus the night before they play us.. Then Toronto plays Montreal the night before we face them, so they'll be coming off a big rivalry game.. The Wild are the only team not playing the night before we face them, and for the Bruins and Rangers we'll be coming in with a day off while they had games and travel the night prior.. So it's possible that one or 2 of those teams will not be 100% against us, and it could really help out

I'm flying out to see 3 out of those 4 games next week, so we are losing at least 3 of them (Minnesota, NYR and Toronto) since I haven't seen them win a game in person since before the lockout. I think its a 0-3-5 streak now. :shakehead So many shootout losses....

Noooo, but I'm going to see them play Minnesota on Thursday... so we'll at least win that one. :handclap:

I finally snapped my losing streak 2 weeks ago. I was 0-7 from last year to this. In those 7 games, 6 of them the Devils scored 1 or no goals. The only game they scored more.... the Yankee Stadium game  You'll break your streak, don't worry.

a lot of teams around us are sputtering like we are, which is why this is still close.

Still, the problem here is that this team can't win consecutive games past 2. How on earth can you do anything if the best you can muster is one 3 game winning streak all year. It's pathetic.

I like the Devils chances with having 10 home games left , I think this is a good thing to have in a tight race .

Nah we are toast. Not good enough to make playoffs but not bad enough to tank. thank you lou lams old senile man is not what he used to be. Deboer also trash behind the bench. You dont see chicago, stl, colordo, boston,La blowing third period leads on a weekly basis let alone not being able to win 3 god dam games in a row

The one thing about our remaining schedule that doesn't help is that we only play two teams we even have a chance at catching, the Rangers and Caps. And the Rangers probably isn't all that realistic, considering we're currently 5 points back. We're done playing the Flyers, Jackets, and Wings, who are all ahead of us. We have 1 less ROW than both the Flyers and Jackets, but 4 more ROW than the Wings, which would help in a tiebreaker.

Not that any of this will matter if they can't beat teams like Florida.
