Rags always seem to "get better" on paper, but lets wait and see if the move actually gels. I don't know their locker room so I don't know if there was any real loyalty to Cally as well that could cause issues too.

I agree, the Rangers always seem to revamp their offense but nothing really seems to come from it. First it was the Gomez and Drury overhaul, then it was big bad Marian Gaborik, then Richards, and Nash and now St. Louis. They always acquire these big names and rarely does it actually come to fruition for them.

Pittsburgh, Boston and Montreal are out of reach. Toronto and Tampa could still crap the bed. Getting past Rags (3 points ahead) or Philly (5 points) will get us in. If not, a wild card spot is still possible if we get past three out of Toronto, Tampa, Columbus, Detroit, Washington.

Carolina could be the key here. They play the Rags twice and us once in the next five days.

I really hope we get 3rd or 2nd (better) in the Metro. Playing the Rangers/Flyers in the first round would be awesome.

Plus it is pretty awesome the new playoff schedule if we get to face Pitt in the 2nd round.

5000.

Because that's how much it feels like with the way the Devils lose games where they have a chance to finally make some head-way up the standings and yet crap the bed instead.

They have St. Louis and Nash on the same team, they're going to make some noise this year. I think this is going to be the trade that turns them around.

I just don't see us making it. All teams around us have games in hand on us and we're enough points out for it to be virtually impossible to surpass the teams we're chasing.

It's a result of this team crapping the bed so many times and not taking advantage when it could have.

Devils go on their final road trip of the season. They need at least 2 out of 3 badly. Please beat the flyers and the lightning! And hope we don't lay a stinker against Lu.

absolutely must beat Philly and Panthers on this road trip. Lightning would be a nice bonus

We are right on the cusp of the play-offs. Things have been looking better since the Olympic break.

I would bet on 92 points being the cutoff for that final playoff spot.

With 16 games remaining, to get to that "magic number"...

10-5-1
9-4-3
8-3-5

You can use this website to determine the remaining record we need to get to 92 points and what the sucess rate is of 92 points getting into the playoffs

92 points has a 90 percent sucess rate of making the playoffs. 93 points it jumps up to 97. 90 points has it at about 50/50

That's a bold prediction. I would love that to happen and still have belief. But you state it as a fact lol. No if, and's or buts. Straight to the point.:handclap:

ya, thats right. set sights on 2nd in the division….. theyre practically a road team (out west) for the next 3 weeks.

good luck with that.

they will finish above the rags.

I sure hope so, but that may not even be enough if the Pens, Flyers and Blue Jackets are ahead of us. There are still 10 teams fighting for 6 spots behind the Pens and Bruins. Even one of Leafs, Habs and Bolts could easily fall off the wagon. Just need to win and win and win. At the very least we'll need 20 points from 16 games. 10-6-0 / 9-5-2 or above.

Next 5 game for Philly: Pitt, @Pitt, Chicago, Dallas, St Louis.

Man that is a tough stretch. Granted 4 are at home, but that's 4 elite teams and all 5 games are vs opponents who currently have more points.

AND it's packed into an 8 day stretch.

Rangers meanwhile have "easier" opponents:

Minn, Wpg, San Jose, Ottawa, Columbus.

But all but the San Jose game is on the road.

Now while the Devils are wearing the weight of having played more games then most everyone else, we do enjoy the benefits of having a little more rest going fwd.

After the back to back games in Florida we have 2 days off, and then don't play a back to back game again till the following weekend(Rags & Leafs) and then get 3 days before we play Phoenix.

And of coarse plenty of home games, after the Florida games we have a 5 game homestand. Actually we won't have to get on a plane again until April. Only away game in March following these next 2 is vs the Isles.

Wow, the remaining road games on our Schedule. Panthers, Lightning, Isles, Sabres, Canes, Ottawa.

Geezus, once we get past the Leafs game our schedule becomes ridiculously easy. Yotes, Isles, Panthers, Sabres, Caps, Canes, Calgary, Ottawa, Isles, before ending the season vs the Bruins.

Man I feel a lot better about our chances after looking that over. Holy Mackerel.

So you are saying other than the extra games played , the rest is in there hands. Don't screw it up!

The telling stretch will be Boston, Minny, NYR, and Maple Leafs.. If we walk away with 4+ points it leaves us in a good position, but it'll be a grind.. Need to beat Florida, and Tampa would be a bonus as well

It's the crappy teams that scare me.. I think back to playing very solidly at home against the Hawks then crapping the bed 1-0 to Buffalo the next night.. That can't happen going forward
