I was going to say the New Jersey Flames, since Lou will most likely find a way of keeping NJ from ever truly bottoming out, being perpetually mediocre like Calgary has been for so long.

yeah thats a good analogy, as long as we dont become the Edmonton Panthers !
(I guess I shouldnt joke about the Panthers after last night !)

Hopefully the new owner turns this ship around. He did a great job with surrounding the 76ers with the correct personnel and they are looking to have a bright future. So hopefully he's ready to make the changes needed here

They're finished. They've been finished for a while now but they sometimes find a way to win a couple of games here and there. Coupled with losses by the teams above them, it makes it appear like they're getting back in the hunt. This has essentially been going on all season long. It's nothing but smoke and mirrors. They're no closer to that 8th spot then they were coming out of the break. The only difference is that there are 9 less games left to play. Think about it. 18 possible points and they've gained absolutely no ground.

It just sucks that there are still 14 games left to play. It's not enjoyable watching a team play out the string but unless they plan on winning at least 11 or 12 of these things, that's exactly what they'll be doing.

Florida road trip from hell two years in a row.

That's why I can't take those sites seriously...there's no way in hades we have a 1/3 chance to make the playoffs basically five points behind and behind multiple teams. They must be heavily weighting schedule but this is one case where you have to use the eye test over numbers. This team hasn't had the ability to get on any kind of a sustained run that coming back would require.

in real terms I guess not. but it shows you just how badly losing to those 2 teams can mess up your push

Thing is, 2 losses at any point would really put a dent in their chances, but when you lose two points to a team like Florida, after having a 3 - 1 lead no less, well I mean that's just beyond pitiful. Those two points hurt significantly more than even losing a close game to a team within the division.

Hopefully this leads to some changes. I feel NJ is really starting to walk that line of permanently mediocre. 2012 may as well be 15 years ago at this point. I really don't like to count last season as it was a mockery /sham / whatever you want to call it, but this will now make 3 years out of 4 with no playoffs. They're not even close in regards to being a top team.

the Sixers just lost 20 games in a row and they've been a bad team for years, please dont use them as a reference

76ers actually have a future...more than you can say for this organization. Two top 10 picks this year and they already have Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel. Even if you don't believe in tanking some of those guys are going to pan out and set themselves up for a good while(in the Eastern conference).

I'm not saying tanking is the way to go(because in the NBA your top players play way more than your top players in the NHL) but they need to show some dedication to the future.

The hilarious thing about it is that they were in a great spot after the win on Tuesday and then in typical Devils fashion, they COMPLETELY **** the bed after they had all the momentum. A choke job and a no show in 2 of the biggest games of the year. Is anybody really surprised?

Where do you think the devils are headed? Aging players, slim forward prospects, possibly goalie issues next year? Someone said it eariler New Jersey Islanders but the probably won't be a serious contender for a while. So I'm saying this new owner seems to have the ability to put the correct people in the correct spots.

Enough of this already. This team needs like a 5 or 6 game winning streak to really do some damage. They haven't been able to put together a 3 game winning streak since November. They had their chance on Friday, but choked out to a team with Brian Campbell, Luongo, the skeleton of Scott Gomez, and mostly AHL players.

the organization has some good pieces without tanking, we just don't play them.

Which is essentially tanking with a fixed pick of #30, gutsy.
