Couple of days off to heal up and regroup, the loss against Tampa may have either ended our season or started a late season push, game against Boston will tell us that, get at least a point there, defeat Minnesota, Rangers and Leafs at home, our schedule is favorable from then and until the end, it's still in the hands of the players. We can do it.

Where do you think the devils are headed? Aging players, slim forward prospects, possibly goalie issues next year? Someone said it eariler New Jersey Islanders but the probably won't be a serious contender for a while. So I'm saying this new owner seems to have the ability to put the correct people in the correct spots.

I don't feel we're that far away from being a real contender.

Forward: Sign Stastny and a scoring winger, trade Ryder and Brunner for whatever we can get and return

Elias/Stastny/RW 1
Ruutu/Zajac/Jagr
Clowe/Henrique/Boucher or Matteau
CBGB

jam JJ16 in there somewhere is he doesn't bolt to Europe as well

Greene-Fayne
Larrsson-Gelly
Volch-Merril

fire Sal into space, resign Cory and have either Marty, Kinkaid or a FA back him up. I think that's a real decent looking roster.

heres what I want Lou to do this summer:
Get a new coach / staff, new coach strips all letters from players, new coach names new captain and A's, Sal rides the pine, and is only used as an emergency backup, or gets Matvichuked. Lou buys out Volch, re-signs Jagr, and signs real good forward, dump Bernier+

Lou has to get this team into the playoffs next season ...no if's, and's, or but's about it

Who cares about Bernier? The 4th line is not the problem with this team. You guys realize that 95% of other teams' 4th lines basically contribute nothing to the offense right? I'm not advocating keeping Bernier, but that is nowhere near the top of the priority list for Lou.

The problem is that Bernier is not getting played as a 4th liner. That entire unit gets played as a pseudo-checking line against the opponent's top scoring line, which leads to them getting exposed.

Carter is the only one I want back.

we need to go like 10-2-2 or better

Boston - can afford to lose, since its likely
Minny - who knows. 50/50
NYR - must win
Tor - must win
phoenix - 50/50
NYI - must win
FLA - must win
BUF - must must must must win
WASH - MUST win
CAR - MUST win
Calgary - should win
Ottawa - 50/50
NYI - must win
Boston- probable loss

so thats 9-2-3 roughly. we could go on that 6 win streak during the weaker middle section and still not be certain of making it. I think its done tbh

yeah I'll take Carter back, and we can move Zubie down to the 4th line

That's not on them that's the coach. What makes you think changing the personnel will change that?

We could and then again you could end up winning the Mega-Millions and Powerball simultaneously, too. :sarcasm:

It's just not likely for either to happen.

I think 2-10-1 is more likely. Watch us miss by like 2-4 points. Hate this team.

For the 3rd time in 4 seasons, gonna have some extry money to play with this spring, since I won't be buying playoff tickets. Sadly, I'm starting to get used to this...

The sad thing really is that both last season and this season the playoffs were easy to make if our team didn't dig itself in a hole at some point. Last year it was the 10 game losing streak, this year it was starting of 0-7.

Devils are full of trying to overcome adversity.

I really believe the Devils should look to the first month of the season from now on as being the key to making the playoffs from now on, especially with this new alignment/format and Metro division.

We started 0-7 and it ultimately BURIED us.

Had we even gone 4-3(or even 3-4) during that stretch, we'd be in a playoff spot as we speak(or close to it).
