Why is it that every star player Columbus ever has wants out within a couple of years...?
Have you ever been to Central Ohio? Or anywhere in Ohio for that matter?

Sure, Dave Chappelle seems to like it. He also turned down $50mm to go on safari and owns a private jet.

There's the rust belt and then there's the place Indiana and Pittsburgh said "no! Get away from us!"

I hate Ohio with a passion. The drive to Michigan is miserable strictly because of the fact that it basically requires driving through Ohio. And Ohio knows it because they charge you through the nose to exit the state on the turnpike. They know you will pay anything to get the hell out of there.

I've thankfully had a fairly busy work day to keep me away from it here. So I'll say what I've had bottled up since last night.

R-E-L-A-X.

The incessant complaining and whining by many when the team is losing even just one game is, by far, the most unbearable thing about this place. Have people forgotten that we were pegged by virtually everyone to finish last in this division? Have people forgotten we're missing significant players in Nico and Bratt since the season began, and now potentially Mac for some time? Have people forgotten we're dealing with an unprecedented layoff that could be significantly impacting some of the players that are having a shit start to the year? Have people forgotten we have an entirely new coaching staff who had virtually no time to implement the strategies they wanted to employ that a normal offseason would allow?

Yes, I know we all want Palms to be shooting out the gate like he has for the past 5 years. Yes, we want Goose to be putting up the points the way he did in the latter part of last season. Yes, we want Johnsson to adjust to the new team right away and be productive immediately. Yes, we wish that P.K. Subban was 5 years younger.

This team is not perfect. No one rationally expects them to be. There are going to be bumps along the way. Get used to it sooner than later, otherwise you'll be scraping your bald heads from already having torn your hair out. And the sooner you do? The less aggravated you'll be when those bumps inevitably come up.

I've gone to college and lived in Ohio over the years, it's really not a bad state. Columbus and Cincinnati (most of SW Ohio actually) are fun cities/areas and just the right size for people that want to avoid living in the country. Sure, like any state, there are places that suck but C-Bus is anything but a shitty place.

I'm a Midwest kid so I'm not shocked that East Coast people wouldn't understand. I hated living in Massachusetts and Eastern PA (Harrisburg). Just not my vibe, I suppose.

I’ve gotten some real bullshit speeding tickets in Ohio, like ~5 mph over the speed limit on the turnpike stuff.

Boy, the turnpike is the Wild West in Ohio. Ain't nobody get tickets on that bitch. I've passed cops going 80 in their 45 MPH "construction" zones that they have every damn year for 10 miles a stretch. I've literally TRIED to get cops to pull me over on the turnpike lol.

They haven’t. Rick Nash played there for 9 years. Seth Jones seems to like it there (or at least hasn’t made any noise), and he’s been there for 6.

But the obvious answer is Torts when guys do want out. And $ ofc.

Columbus is nice. But everything else is bleh

All of you except for Goose can go straight to hell!

Ohio gets a bad rap (something you NJ guys can identify with) mostly because of Cleveland and the places in the sticks. Cincinnati and Columbus are actually pretty nice (in my biased opinion).

I don’t remember where exactly in Ohio it was. I don’t know what else to tell you, when I drove to and from Chicago and NJ in early 1990s I got bullshit speeding tickets in Ohio on a highway.

I got one driving for over 10 mph over the speed limit, which was horseshit I wasn’t even going that fast, while to driving to NJ. And a week later I got the same ticket driving back to Chicago and that weirdo cop wanted to confiscate my license for some inexplicable reason that I don’t even remember. I never ever get speeding tickets and it felt like some sort grift where they were trying to make money of out-of-state drivers with speeding tickets fees.

Well, I've always had a Wisconsin license plate on my car so I don't think it's the last one. Might've just been a result of the time (I'm fairly younger than you are - I started driving at 18 in 2004). My dad lives in BFE Western PA so I've had to trek the full turnpike from Indiana to Youngstown and I don't think there's ever been a time where I haven't been sitting 80 MPH or better unless weather didn't permit it. The Ohio Turnpike is the closest thing you'll find to the Autobahn in the Midwest lol. Well, until you get to Iowa/Nebraska/Wyoming, then it's balls to the wall to get the hell through those states.

I've only ever gotten speeding tickets on I-70 in Ohio and Wayne County, Indiana. Never even been pulled over on the turnpike and I've traveled that sucker at least 2 times a year for the last 15 years.

NJ gets a bad rap because people who haven't been there are actually thinking of Ohio with Italians.
