I was shocked that our defense didn't totally suck. It actually looked good. Ward looked better.

Murphy and Bellemore were both solid. Murphy's offensive contributions and Bellemore's physicality are both very welcome additions.

Sekera was very solid. I was impressed.

Justin ****ing Faulk. Team USA Defenseman.

As said before...we play like that on a nightly basis, and we'll win a lot of hockey games.

I think Faulk deserves to be on the 1st PP unit, whether it's with or replacing Murphy. He had some nice rushes and dangles into the offensive zone and his shot is deadly when he gets it on net. He also seems faster this year.

I think both Ward and Faulk were dynamite tonight for you guys/gals. Really hope Faulk makes Team USA for the Olympics, probably the most underrated guy in the entire league. Anytime I turn on a Canes game he is killing it, one of the best young d-man in the game, heck just one of the best d-man in the game, you guys are lucky to watch him night in and night out. Hoping the word spreads on him quickly, a marvelous hockey player.

Not sure if they'll win a lot of games this season, but I think this will be a fun team to watch. Gerbe and Murphy both played better than I expected tonight(I didn't watch any preseason)

I liked how Bellemore didn't seem to hesitate to get the puck towards the net when he stopped it at the blueline.
Bellemore played pretty well. Still struggles a bit with the breakout but he made smart decisions all night. I think Komisarek is banished to the press box for awhile barring another injury.

This is why I like that he seems to just try to quickly get it towards the net. I don't think he's a player we won't skating around with the puck back there or looking for some fancy passing. Plus the other guys will know what his thought is and will be able to try to get to the net for deflections, rebounds, etc.

Yeah. We love him here. Every time someone makes a trade thread, we have to tell them Faulk ain't going nowhere. He's something special. Last year of his elc though. He's going to get paid.

Solid in all 3 zones. Gerbe basically plays like that annoying 14 year old in your neighborhood after he's had a double shot of espresso. Which, when it's on your team, is AMAZING to have.

I figured he'd basically be an offensive beast for Carolina while not being anything amazing otherwise.

Thinking he'll bring in points similar to Jokinen did?

It all depends on how far he slides down once Ruutu comes back, if he does at all. Dwyer's definitely the more likely candidate but you never know. I'd say 40 points is the cap for points this season if he stays on the 2nd line.

Yeah I'm going to give Vagrant big props/eat crow for calling Gerbe making the team when I extremely doubted it. I already really enjoy watching him play. He forechecks like he's a foot taller than he really is and he seems to have really good chemistry with Jordan... he's a lot more versatile than Sabres fans made it seem.

could nit pick here and there but I was pretty encouraged with the game overall and it could have gone either way. lots of positives and I'm sure they'll look at the few negatives and fine tune. just a disappointing ending that wasn't anyone's fault in particular with a bouncing puck and some bad luck there. I was happy with the guys and how Muller played them tonight.

Detroit did a good job containing the top line and Howard played very well. again, it could have just as easily been a win but I'll settle for the point. all and all I'm feeling pretty optimistic with what I saw getting that first game behind them.

I thought the Canes deserved the win tonight. They really contained the Wings top line and top PP unit well.

I also wish the Wings had some of the speed you guys have in your line-up, I suspect it will cause the Wings a lot of trouble in the rest of the games between them this year.

Anyways good luck against the Flyers in your next one.

Thank you both for the class... wish your fans that were at the game would've acted similarly. Then again, it was a bit therapeutic to unleash some rage on that moron.

I see what you did there.

Oh, I forgot to mention... this is our eighth straight loss with me in attenance. Last time we won in my presence was Brind'Amour Night almost three years ago. Please don't have me banned from PNC Arena.
