... this guy may be the single dumbest, most clueless writer I've ever seen. It's like he has absolutely no idea what the **** the actual game of hockey entails and just goes off of the stat sheet. Frankly it sounds like he's probably never watched a single game played by the Canes and vaguely has an idea of what Justin Faulk is.

Last night shows how valuable Joni is to our team. Not another person on this team can effectively skate the puck out of our zone or carry it into the offensive end. And the points on the PP were brutal last night.

...Except for the multiple times Murphy did just that, right?

Not that the breakouts weren't an issue, but Murphy definitely had a few times where he was gliding up the ice, puck in tow, with confidence.

Exactly what I was thinking. Actually, Hainsey looked ok in that regard too.

It's probably been clarified on other threads but just how exactly can Lindholm be eligible to play for the Checkers?

As he was drafted out of a non-CHL league, he's eligible to play in the AHL as an 18 year old rather then having to wait until he turns 20/plays 4 CHL seasons before being allowed to play.

Only CHL players (Canadian Juniors) are ineligible to play in the AHL until they are 21 (edit: 20). Players drafted from the US or Europe are free to be placed in the AHL as 18 year olds.

It's a contractual agreement between the NHL and CHL so that the CHL can hold on to talent and keep their league relevant.

Ok we played against the best possesion team in the NHL. But...

1. We continue to not finish checks.

2. Players continue to go down down the lane uncontested leading to a shelling of Ward.

3. We once again cannot eetablish a forecheck due to not playing physical.

4. Out 1st and 2nd line were pretty.much nonexistent last night.

5. Ou4 PK wss good.

6. We had a PP gosl.but the PP is still *edit*.

7. Ward was the only reason we got s point tonight.

8. I also "think" I saw sound positioning from our D resulting in A LOT of blocked shots...

I'm not impressed. This was a great tesm ee played but the 3rd period meltdown was discouraging. Lots of new faces. Will reserve finao verdict until 10 games in.

Will give you the fact that the first line played like poo, but the 2nd line of j staal, gerbe and dwyer was played excellent d and was a threat to score in the offensive zone, really don't see your reasoning there...

We are not a physical team. We do not have the personnel to be an overly physical team. The canes must try to be a puck possession team (like Detroit). Are the red wings overly physical? Nope, they plan a very effective puck possession game. Physicality is not everything.

2 points would have been nice, but at least we lost the right way getting the losers point...

I agree Faulk needs to do more, like cure cancer, stop hunger and poverty, part the Red Sea and walk on water. Until he does that, questions will remain over his ability.

I really don't like to hear people say "our PP/PK sucks" implying the players when special teams are 100% on the coach, what he tells them to do and they practise. they do have the guys that "fit that bill now" and they can execute. it is a difficult aspect of the game to be sure, when other teams are adept at it and a team has to be able to adjust accordingly. when after a loss I hear the players drone on, and the coach as well, about how they played their game and "stuck to it", etc., blah, blah, blah, but still lost, that indicates that something is amiss 'with their game' imo. but yeah, things are looking somewhat better so far. that could have just as easily been a win. 16 friggen seconds after holding off a strong and pushing Red Wings in the third. all things considered, Howard won that game at the other end for them last night.

You keep saying that special teams is on the coach 100%, like its some sort of fact. Nobody else says this. Literally no one.

You can have the best PP system in the league, but if your players all of the sudden develop some hesitancy and the puck stops moving around the ice with speed...this system bogs down, regardless of how good it is. Movement of the puck creates shooting lanes. That's all it is.

Saw the posts regarding junior status, but I'm still confused. When Lindholm was drafted I seem to recall he was under contract to a SEL team for this season. The only way out of that contract was for Lindholm to sign and play for a NHL team. The AHL was not an option. Or am I misremembering?

If ths is the case I wonder if his SEL contract could be bought out?

He doesn't have a SEL contract anymore. His contract with Brynas was negated when he signed his NHL contract with the Hurricanes.

Here's Chip's blog post that contained JR's fairly confident statement on the matter:

"There's nothing in his contract with Brynas that suggests he has to go back to Europe," Rutherford said Monday. "He can play for either Carolina or Charlotte."

I remember some speculation that it was Brynas or NHL only, but there appears to be no contractual barriers.

Presumably no personal barriers, either, as Lindholm would hopefully clearly see the big-fish-little-pond major AHL minutes/role as a fast track back to that third line center slot.

Does this guy get paid? If so, I'm honestly offended. I would kill to get paid for writing about hockey, but they give a job to some ******* that has clearly never even watched a hockey game before, let alone the one that he just wrote about.

He wrote that "they aren't paying Faulk $890,000 to be terrible" or something like that. Seriously referenced his nothing ELC salary and that the Hurricanes somehow aren't getting their moneys worth. There isn't even anyone on this site who has that stupid of an opinion and we have some god damn stupid opinions on here.

Rant Sports is yet another platform for random hacks to get their names RT'ed across the underbelly of the sports landscape. They claim to pay their writers but I doubt it's a significant wage. It's not really different than Bleacher Report, Yardbarker, etc.

Based off my limited experience, it's usually a small pittance per word (anywhere from 6-10 cents), but it adds up.

Of course, it might also be based off hits to the article, which might explain why he created so blatantly stupid.
