Watch any Islanders games lately?
I will not call the Islanders a storied franchise, they won 4 in a row yes, but they have been garbage since.

Nevertheless i am sure Johnny would be playing better, and giving more of an effort if he played for them instead of the Blue Jackets.

It also looks like a great player like Patrick Laine is wasting away there.
He know they will not win the cup, so why bother. Him and jonny need a change of scenery.

But on the other hand, i understand that Johnny himself chose Columbus, so there is no excuse for him..... he took the money over the cup :-(

I say the 4 cups and a 5th final all in consecutive seasons qualifies as storied but maybe I have fan bias. I also give points for the players involved

For Johnny, I always felt his made Tkachuk better, I was SOOOO wrong. At the very least he should give the fans an effort and be a great player on a bad team

No, teams like Columbus, Phoenix, etc will not bring out the best in players.
Teams like Chicago, Detroit, Devils.... will
Imagine being this ignorant. Are you forgetting the decade before the Hawks lucked into Toews and Kane? Or the fact that the devil's are only where they are now because they had multiple top 5 picks in consecutive years.

How's Seth Jones working out for you? He had his career high in Columbus.

Or Panarin, who had back to back career seasons in Columbus

Or Brandon Saad who the world told us would never produce without Kane and then put up back to back career seasons that he hasn't come close to since.

That is easy, that is the jacket lemar curse.

What is omitted from this clip, because it's unproven, is that allegedly the Canadiens knew all game long that McSorley had an illegal stick because a member of the Canadiens' staff went into the Kings' locker room and checked some of the sticks (remember this was before the second game in a row at the Montreal Forum, so all the Kings' equipment had been sitting in the locker room for several days and there were probably plenty of opportunities for someone to go in and poke around unnoticed).
-
The staff member identified McSorley's as the illegal stick (they might have found others too, but we'll never know because his is the one they challenged) and the Canadiens waited until the most opportune moment: the Canadiens were down by a goal with less than two minutes left. That was the time to strike.

This post is on the same level with your other posts in this thread. None of them make any sense.

I see you just joined. Is this a troll account for you? No way anyone comes off this condescending unless they are trolling.

It's 10 games. He'll heat up. He put up 74 on a very bad team last year.

Players like him actually fare quite better than others going into their 30s - St. Louis, Zuccarello, Kane, etc. These shifty playmakers are never just done and the game is getting even more accommodating to their profile.

The Jackets are rebuilding, the path is not linear in a rebuild but there's so much to like. And if they have this top end talent and manage to recapture their old identity - where they squeezed blood from a stone and were one of the hardest working teams in the league - they'll be fine.

The thing about Jarmo, like Stevie Y, is that I don't think he feels that bottoming out is truly acceptable, unlike NJ's ownership. And he got Fantilli anyway.

No, what are you talking about... there is a legit curse from 1993.
It was a scumbag move that cost Gretzky his final shot at the Cup... and no Canadian team have won in 30 years since!
What more do you want!

Panarin was great for us, but have you noticed how the Rangers always think they can puzzle a team together like they did in 94 and somehow win a cup again.... it will not work.

They have no homegrown talent so they will continue to fail.
For 20 years they have also thought gooning up was the way to success, that was another failure.

And? IDC about the Rangers. We're talking about Columbus' "inability to bring out the best in players"

You came into the thread talking shit about Columbus and then completely move the goal posts and conversation when presented facts that contradict what you just said.

But wait, the Rangers are a storied franchise that would bring the best out of a player? Also you did not explain how Panarin could be good for the Hawks and the Jackets. It almost seems like your argument makes no sense, but I know that can't be right because you sounded so confident.

This is some grade A bullshit. Panarin did better in Columbus than he did Chicago.

EDIT: I see others have called out your hilarious statement already. Why even say something so stupid?

Read your comments about the Rangers, looks over and sees Krieder, Fox, Miller and Shesterkin.

As a Devils fan all I can say is.....

Taylor Hall turned down what was rumorored to be around a 10M deal for 8 years
Gaudreau turned down a 10M deal for 7 years

Instead we have better and younger players. Extremely lucky.

Panarin was better for the Rangers than Chicago who was a basement dweller 20 out of the 34 years I've been alive. I don't see how you have room to talk down on any team seeing as what kind of team the Hawks were before Kane and Toews. same thing with the Rangers...no homegrown talent? Fox, Shesterkin, 50 goal scorer Kreider, Lafreniere, Kakko, Miller, Chytil. only difference is you lucked out getting Kane and Toews and Kakko and Laf are still somewhat struggling but still plenty of time. Hawks used to be San Jose-- literally just as bad!!

Hall was only delaying the inevitable with MVP seasons. After the devils lost Kovalchuk they were cooked

Hawks were bad due to a cheap owner.
Rangers have the opposite, a owner that throw money out the window, because he thinks they can buy a cup.

This guy is absolutely brutal now, plays almost 21 minutes a game, has zero goals and just four assists through 9 games? How did he score 115 points 2 years ago?

players can get very streaky where they have 10 games of little production.

he could be playing hurt like a wrist injury which affects his shooting.

this is the big concern I have on many UFA wingers…how much did they benefit due to their linemates, situational use, 30+ age and cliff falling, and overall team playing style.

I still think it's hilarious that he had his heart set on signing in Philly, but the Flyers chose to instead give their cap to Rasmus Ristolainen and Tony DeAngelo.

"Sorry, hometown kid who is a +100 point player and wants to come play with us, we decided to give $10M to two healthy scratch defenseman so we can't sign you. Have fun playing for a division rival instead." - Chuck Fletcher
Image if he did sign there…and this happened…..
