Has Johnny Gaudreau cooked in his life? probably not and he doesn't need to. I'm sure he just gets his wife to cook the meals since she's at home with the baby and not having to work.

This is what happens to good players when they don't have people to play with. Gaudreau excels most w/ a guy with good hands in tight (Tkachuk, Monahan), that then opens things up for a shooter (Lindholm)... And also opens up his shooting opportunities

Calgary is having similar problems with Huberdeau and Lindholm, good players but they need a puck carrier to drive the line.

Good players, bad fits.

His wife is a pediatric nurse. Far more important job than his.

Man cashed in and checked out.
Seems to happen a LOT. When it's contract time, players go to Hell and back to make an impression. After the contract is signed, not so much.

He is 30 and many players decline after 30.

Of course, no one in Calgary will lose a moment's sleep over his decline or the Columbus pay checks he cashes.

Having said all that, it's only October.

The yearly HF Gaudreau thread where spittle soaked smooth brains proclaim themselves hockey geniuses for asserting a 5'8 170lb winger will struggle to carry a franchise.
If it was so obvious that 5'8 170lb winger would struggle to carry a franchise, then why was he signed to carry a franchise?

He’s one of a few who play hockey professionally because he is good enough at it to make an elite living doing it, but don’t have the love of the game, of winning in their DNA.

If he was playing for his mothers life, you wouldn’t have to dig so deep, reach so far to note his impact.
WJC gold medal
NCAA national championship
USHL championship

And he did this:

Not having Tkachuk probably hasn’t helped. The more talent he gets the better he’ll do. Jackets just have a lot of young guys that aren’t there yet.

He should have just said, came here to have fun, be close to my family and where I grew up. I guess it sounded crazy at the time because, who goes go Columbus to win games lately?

lol a simple 'yes' would have sufficed, but thanks for driving home the point for us. it really is stuck in your craw

That’s us trying to sugar coat the problem, he’s been very underwhelming.

That's not what's happening here, there's an obvious difference between 'underwhelming' and being 'cooked'

It's much more fair to say he's been a bit underwhelming, especially in the finishing department - he's a little bit snakebit. But he's passing the eye test, at least as far as I'm concerned.

And to my earlier post's point - you could make the same 'underwhelming' statement about the start of his 115 pt campaign.

I remain unconcerned.

Johnny Gaudreau hasn't won the Blue Jackets the Stanley Cup in the first 10 games of the season.
clearly just a fraud

What's McDavid's excuse then?
No. Johnny Gaudreau hasn't lived up to the type of production that he was signed for. It's a simple fact.

Glad he choose Blue jackets over the Devils.
same!.. though for different reasons i think

Gaudreau is being killed around here but i think hes still an incredible forward; but i do question his motivation and decision to join a much-worse team for some extra cash every year

so i do think if he chose NJ hed be killing it right now; but that would also have meant hed be more motivated to succeed and win vs securing an extra 250-750k a year

Was just under a point per game on a team that didn't even crack 60pts. Led the Blue Jackets in scoring by 22pts.
Clearly you don't know what you're talking about and just have an axe to grind.

I’m quite certain he does not want to be in Columbus. Or at the very least, is not motivated to perform in Columbus.

This is such an absurd post. You dont know what makes hockey players tick on any level.
nether do you, are you a NHL player?

playing for a storied franchise will bring out the best in a player..... and vice versa.

Anyone else feel the same?
