However, much like Huberdeau, he can’t be the ONLY franchise player, and both would be doing better if they had remained the franchise player for THEIR franchises.
Johnny doesn’t miss games. Nobody gets clean licks on him. He’s still going to be elite when Fantilli hits his stride.
One of the least worrisome contracts in the league IMO.

We disagree on the definition of franchise player if a franchise player needs other ones to look great. In Huberdeau's case, the Panthers rightfully identified Barkov as their franchise guy.

We'll see what happens. Unfortunsteky the only real losers rn look like to be the Flames. Columbus are probably happy with Gaudreau, Florida is elated with Tkachuk, and all the players involved are incredibly richer
