I’m seeing the same thing more or less.it's an odd way to say it, if they felt he would be playing on the top pairing but as the 2nd best D on that pairing, why not just say he has top pairing upside since as the top RD he would be on the top pairing like Komisarek was on Markov's pairing.
That said it would make sense to down play things a bit after such a bad reaction by the fan base to the point that they were caught off-guard. So saying he could end up a 2nd pairing D might take a little pressure off him from the media and fans perhaps.
I have to say I'm still a bit mixed on it all. I can see why they would pick him but I also see a lot of scouting reports i've seen from posters aren't really correct but in the same vein in the 10 or 11 games that i've seen I would have a really hard time pinpointing just what he is as clearly he has impressive gap control but i've seen some bad decisions in his own end that certainly make me question to some degree just how good his defensive game really is since some were making it out like he was already plus plus defensively to use a baseball scouting term (I like to scout Milb)
On the other hand people question his offense and rightly so but the playmaking/passing is legit so he's going to put up points. I wish he would shoot more, reminds me of when I was watching Romanov in the KHL and would beg to see even 1 shot a game just so I can get a better look at.
It could be that, or it could be Hughes didn't want to overly hype a prospect, keeping in line with Slaf, because the Montreal media/fandom is already crazy enough. Myself included.i feel like it might just be as simple as Hughes' team board has the D lines going

The only thing I've seen was a rumor out of Switzerland that it's CH or Kloten HC. I don't know how much veracity can be attributed to the report but it does follow the logical stance that Kloten HC is probably a better option at this point than the AHL given the player's wishes the sliding ELC and the glut of defenders expected in NA.Has there been any news about where he'll play this year?

lol, fine? More like that would be outstanding. To expect prime Weber is a huge ask, to me if he's anything close to that it's a big win for us. If he's a 3rd pairing D that would suck.If Reinbacher is a prime Suter or Weber, it is fine.
You’re correct. But after no championships in over three decades and what seems like unending rebuilds, it’s understandable why some fans here are a tad bit impatient.Patience is the key world , 18 years old and Defenseman.

Disappointing, really. The Dutch league just isn't competitive.
Just don't go during Europe's equivalent to the construction holidays we get in Canada. Unnerving.f***ing love Amsterdam, though. What an awesome city.

I have a long history in Amsterdam. I spent a summer there as a 16-year-old, through an exchange with a Dutch family; still in touch with the former teenaged son of that family, Pieter, longtime friend. In 1988, I also was loaned to KLM by CAE when I was working in flight simulation (prior to going back to grad school). I stayed there for four months, in a 2-floor suite at Park Hotel (I asked for a bigger room given a 4-month stay and got that...). Pieter's wife would cut my hair during that 4-month period. Right after that, I quit upon my return and went to Ecole Polytechnique for grad school; I'd saved up enough on per diem profits to make the transition.f***ing love Amsterdam, though. What an awesome city.
No kidding. If he turns out to be prime versions of two of the best d-men in the last 25 years it's "fine?"lol, fine? More like that would be outstanding. To expect prime Weber is a huge ask, to me if he's anything close to that it's a big win for us. If he's a 3rd pairing D that would suck.
overrated IMO, try barcelona. Warmer, cheaper and comparable nightlifef***ing love Amsterdam, though. What an awesome city.
You have to stay optimistic. I'm pretty sure that, if Reinbacher ends up a third pairing D, he'll still have enough upside to briefly cover in the top-4 in case of injury. No kidding. If he turns out to be prime versions of two of the best d-men in the last 25 years it's "fine?"
I really don't see a Weber type of player in this guy. Nowhere near the devastating heavy shot nowhere near the mean streak. So I don't see how he could possibly turn into a Prime Weber. That level of player would be awesome but he still a very long way from being that. The good thing is the kid knows he has plenty of work to do before he comes over to NA.lol, fine? More like that would be outstanding. To expect prime Weber is a huge ask, to me if he's anything close to that it's a big win for us. If he's a 3rd pairing D that would suck.
doesn't D2 just mean the top RD on the team? he didn't say a 2D
which is why it would make more sense to just say top pairing D if that's what he meant as it would be clearer.
The biggest things might be his skating and shot to improve. Really good passer. Like the way he jumps into the play.
I don’t know the technique of skating too well but I think the footwork backwards skating is the big thing. That will help him D wise. If I’m identifying the problem correctly. Has a decent wrister.

He is indeed a strong skater, no clue how some people watch the game.He is a very good skater especially when you consider that he is quite skinny and is still growing. When he gains some man strength he is going to be a defensive stud and a very good puck mover.
