I’ll give you an example of my own. I wear my mask for 12+ hours at work, when I go out I wear a mask and even when I visit my parents I wear a mask. I still got COVID.

If we’re tossing out baseless anecdotes
Sorry to hear that.
Hope you recover. If it is not too much, maybe I ask how is the contract tracing and communication between the CDC and you, like have they check in daily, will you be taking more tests. Have they contacted and tested people that had close contact with you?

As for my example, it is not baseless as it happened.

I’m disappointed ski hills are closed.

but I accept it as necessary.

not a single word of what I wrote is how you spun it.

wear a mask. Stay home. And if you can’t do either.... volunteer to get Covid so we can study you.

Welcome back and good to hear from you.
Ski hills are closed in Ontario? They have not close them in BC.

thanks.

yes, all hills closed in Ontario until Jan 23. They may reopen if the spread is controlled.

Cross country trails are still open.

I'm sorry to hear that. All the best to you.

I do think that you are touching on an important misconception regarding masks.

Masks protect OTHERS from you. Not you from others.

While they lower your risk, if you are in a room with a Covid positive person and you are the only one wearing the mask, your odds of being infected have been measured by some studies to be as high as 80% (other factors like time in the same space, distance, ventilation, type of mask, etc would be at play).

But if the Covid positive person wears a mask and you do as well, your odds drop to as low as 1.5%.

That's why anti-maskers are so dangerous. It's why you can have spikes in areas with lockdowns. All it takes is a nut job who doesn't care about others and we end up where we are.

I live in Mississauga and I had same experience ... mine was determined to be community spread but I still believe I got it from one of my kids ... but then again we all did da serology test with Dynacare and I was only one with antibodies even though 4 other people live with me where no one wears a mask at home (still don't) and I isolated after learning I got it until a negative test ... i certainly likely had it before chest breathing issues developed but somehow no one else got virus from me ... so I personally don't believe da mask thing to be a 99% solution ... I think when time passes and facts are all figured out it will come down to plain BAD luck and just being in wrong spot at wrong time will explain quite a bit ... I thought differently until serology tests came back

masks protect others and *sometimes* yourself

it's a community protection method

if everyone wears good masks, then chances of transmission are super unlikely

if one person enters that same space with no mask and has covid, you have a good chance of getting covid... largely because you can get it through your eyes, not just your air ways.

that's all it takes. one idiot without a mask.

We are where we are because the decision makers don't understand what lockdown means. Instead they are failing badly at a balancing game. Lockdown, sure but look at all the trivial things that are deemed a necessity.

Luck and your immune system. I relate it similar to a cold, I can go years without getting one, where as my wife will get 2 a season some years and I think she has never gone a year without getting at least some sniffles.

We are where we are cause people are stupid and can't do what is asked. Its not just about wearing masks and social distancing. Most people are doing that. Where we fail is with having gatherings and still going out as if everything is fine. It shouldn't be up to government to babysit us.

This may come of rude but you know what I'm tired and done with all of this. I'm going to sit back and eat my popcorn and watch as humanity and the world crumbles. We have no one to blame but Covid and our actions to it.

and while were at it AGE too ... i never had any thing from 16 until pneumonia in mid/late 30's then once I got that seems like I get flu or colds more ... not every year but maybe 1 out 2 years ... da last thing you want to catch is pneumonia it lasted 2-4 weeks way longer than COVID 4-5 days did ... and you are completely exhausted just going up a couple stairs ... i think if you got COVID at same time as pneumonia you would be in deep sh*t ... deep deep deep sh*t ... i can't imagine being completely exhausted and weak and someone at same time standing on my chest for 4 days ... enough to make you go UNCLE

It's rare that I see a person walking around outside without a mask and I never see that indoors, other than at home. The fault is the plan man.

Governments babysit its citizens all the time. That is why we have laws, police service, and courts.

it’s a losing cause.

Rationalization and denial are so strong with a minority of the population you’ll just never get through.

they blame fear or doctors for closing down businesses but can’t see that its their own selfish actions that have contributed to the spread and have cost livelihoods.

fortunately, there is a vaccine on the way.

and if these folks want to not take one, it’s just a matter of time before Darwin’s theory takes hold.
Selfish actions huh? Like what? Wanting to earn a living and see their family? Have you sacrificed your income?

There were no anti-maskers in Wuhan. They still had to crash build new hospitals overnight due to a flooding of covid cases.

To suggest that they didn't mask up in early december when there was flat out hysteria regarding covid is intellectually dishonest. So why almost 2 months later were their hospitals still flooded?

It takes time to see any affect. Even though we are locked down people were still getting together for Christmas.
Heaven forbid you see your family at Christmas! The horror! Total deaths in the province are right on track for their projections.

People die all the time man. Welcome to reality.

Other ppl are not responsible for your safety. You are. You've taken the same risk every day of your life with other viruses. Hell... At your age you have a way higher chance of dying in a car crash then you do from covid. Lemme guess.... You still drive though right? Masks are useless. You can maybe delay the inevitable at best.

oh yes there was lol

there's always someone who will disagree with something, the world is strange that way

i remember seeing some videos of a girl intentionally coughing on elevator panels and door handles... others with military and people arguing about masks (didn't end well for the maskless)

you do realize that there has been more deaths of covid this year with only 2 waves that has infected less than 5% of our population than from driving from any of the last 5 years, yes?

Bingo!

P.S. Just because I agreed with you here doesn't mean I agree with you all the time. I still think Kadri is awesome! ;)
