The last few days seeing the actions and words of people in general my hope for humanity to survive this is low. There isn't enough middle ground on anything. You have one side who wants everything shutdown and other side who thinks nothing should be done. All that it has done is caused is a lot of in-fighting and people being rude to each other.
My faith in humanity is zero at this point. At the beginning of this I had hoped it would bring people together and people would work together to get through this. Instead here we are with skyrocketing cases with higher positivity rate higher then in the frost wave. The worst part is how little people care. Look at all the people out and about as if there is no pandemic or a lockdown.
I'm past feeling angry or sad. I just don't feel anything for anyone else.

A 41 yr old US congressman elect passed away from COVID. This is a 2nd high profile (to my knowledge) person to pass away; the other was a prime minister i think of one of the african countries

Luke Letlow, who was only 41 and had no known underlying health conditions, died Tuesday night at Ochsner-LSU Health Shreveport -- days before he was scheduled to be sworn into office, according to his spokesman Andrew Bautsch. Bautsch asked for privacy for Letlow's family "during this difficult and unexpected time."

i haven’t said a word about Wuhan. I don’t think any of us know the reality of what happened there and when.
I was responding to the poster who said he got Covid while wearing a mask.
I was explaining how it is very likely to happen if someone who is Covid positive doesn’t wear a mask even if he does.

If you are wearing a mask in a room with a Covid positive person who isn’t wearing one, your odds of getting it are as high as 80%.
but if that Covid positive person wears a mask and you do too, your odds drop to 1.5%.
that’s what the science tells us.
because of asymptomatic spread, it is absolutely critical that everyone wear a mask.
your nonsense about not wearing masks puts people at risk and folks out of business.

I am up for respecting privacy as long as it doesn't cause significant harm; covid is the exception! And they are only asking to show "covid" test NOT every medical condition.

Total deaths are not up. That's what we really need to look at. WHO stopped recording influenza numbers.... They're juicing the covid case numbers with the flu. We should see a sharp increase in total deaths. Were not. We're bankrupting ppl while running the average deaths totals. It makes no sense. And the only ones advocating for lockdowns haven't sacrificed a thing financially it seems. Easy to let other ppl starve to help yourself.

But the reality IS that everyone masked up very very early in Wuhan. Things still got so bad that they had to crash build new hospitals and force literal house arrest.
So it's silly for you to say "If everyone followed the rules my kids would still have a job". Everyone DID follow the rules in Wuhan. They barely helped.
People have a GREATLY exaggerated viewpoint on the effectiveness of these measures. They're supposed to slightly... slightly... decrease spread so as to flatten the curve. This gave people like you a false sense of such policy's effectiveness.

Almost 3000 new cases today despite the lockdown measures.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...community spread is being driven primarily by private gatherings. There are many people that are not abiding by the provincial health guidelines in their residences.
Small businesses were not a significant factor in community spread and yet they are paying the price.
