Only issue I see is companies making it mandatory for employees to get vaccinated. It will be required for travel too. It could get messy tbh.

I'm self-employed. Travel would be a real problem for me because I own property out-of-province but if that's what I'd have to live with, so be it. At least I'd have an excuse to not have to go on another cruise for my wife. :)

Oh great...here come the anti-vaxxers. I'll see myself out.

There is a huge difference between being anti-vaxx, and asking questions that deserve answers before getting injected.

Thankfully most can see the glaringly obvious difference.

Huh. I couldn’t careless if people wear masks. I sure as hell am not going to wear one when this is over. If you wanna wear one go ahead.

I'm not comparing the two.

But I think comparing China to North America in terms of pandemic response is a bit futile.

They took firm hard-line action.

We sometimes do...

When we feel like it, or when it's convenient - at an individual and state level.

Why even wonder why their economy is up and running?

We have anti-mask/pandemic control protests here.

Do you think the people of Wuhan were doing moronic stuff like that?

That’s a good point about having unprecedented resources for this vaccine but time is something you cannot buy. You can have 5000people working on it night and day but at the end they still need to test the vaccine and that takes time.

I am not advocating for or against the vaccine, but they had a tonne of research to build from.

They have been trying to create a vaccine in the coronavirus family since SARS.

It was stalled quite a bit in Phase 3 but who knows if the extra resources and time put in helped them get past the hurdles.

There are quite of bit of research papers available online to read about the 20 year history

Attributing the super-genius villainy of creating some nefarious genetics modifying vaccine is quite the conspiratorial stretch. More likely that these vaccines are just one of several promising yet dead-end development streams funded after the SARS scare and this is big pharma cashing out in the expedite-a-vaccine-to-market environment of 2020 and 2021 before health officials come to their senses.

What happened to De Villa, she use to make a lot of appearances, and make almost daily updates similar to Tory and Ford?

historically vaccines are tested for 10 to 15 years. It appears that is no longer required.
Vaccine Development, Testing, and Regulation | History of Vaccines

historically it took time for a written parchment to get to other countries several days/months; now something called a "txt message" just instantly get there. weird

historically people from the same area would get together in a bar/house to talk aobut their team hardly had a chance to talk with the fans of their team around the country; but now they can do that instantly on something called a hockey board names HF ---- weird

:sarcasm:

Its not like the urgency of the situation, global demand and funding available with information sharing and years of scientific and technological advances have anything to do with it.

Who is saying that there are no safety concerns? Who is monitoring the safety? HINT: The very same ones who stand to profit the most from this rush to market. It's been allowed to completely skip the animal trials, and it won't be subject to peer review for at least 2 years. And there is absolutely no studies with regards to contraindications with current medications.

You are more than welcome to have mine until I see the hard data, and not storytelling masquerading as science.

Dr James Lyons-Weiler, the CEO of the “Institute for Pure and Applied Knowledge,” made an appalling online statement on 3 February 2020, which claimed the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) responsible for the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic was most likely constructed via laboratory recombination.
In the results, he showed SARS-CoV-2 had a unique inserted sequence (1378 bp) located in the middle of its spike glycoprotein gene that had no match in other coronaviruses (Supplementary Figure 1). Furthermore, he claimed this unique sequence was similar to some sequence in pShuttle-SN (Supplementary Figure 2), a common expression vector used in research laboratory.
To check on his claim, we ran a thorough analysis on his results, and found some serious mistakes in his distorted analysis. Thus, we drew an opposite conclusion that there was no evidence to support the theory for the formation of SARS-CoV-2 in a laboratory.

Is SARS-CoV-2 originated from laboratory? A rebuttal to the claim of formation via laboratory recombination

Dr. Lyons Weiler is a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Pittsburgh where he is the Scientific Director of the Bioinformatics Analysis Core. He earned his PhD at University of Nevada Reno in Ecology Evolution and Conservation Biology.

yea... he should shut his yap; he is not qualified to comment on coronaviruses

Fact Check people before posting their BS for public consumption and transferring fraudulent anecdotes

And funny enough his twitter handle - mini bio says
https://twitter.com/lifebiomedguru

CEO/President. Scientist. Author. Human Rights Advocate. Sharing Research and Interpretation, Not Medical or Legal Advice.

It is getting borderline pathetic!

LOL

this isn't anything new. Vaccine wasn't design to stop the spread. It is amazing to me how people without understanding the concept continue to spread false information and agenda

Who knew you could be an epidemiology/microbiology/economics/public health expert just by watching Youtube videos and reading a Twitter feed?

These universities are ripping a lot of people off.

Let's start a protest.

Hypothethical scenario but what I have learned looking around the world is that if tomorrow we have a zombie like virus; the western countries will be done and out - eastern countries might survive.

This is that "everything is black and white" problem that has taken the world by storm. Either all vaccines are good, or all vaccines are bad. Nothing in between.

Group A: Yes, there are people who are "anti-vaxxers". These are a rare group of people who believe that NO vaccines are necessary, and they have a whole bunch of side effects that mainstream science hides from the public for some reason.

Group B: Equally insane are people who think the very second the word "vaccine" is in play, then that means that it is 100% safe no matter what and anything saying otherwise is disinformation.

But with covid, what we need to see is the grey area. Group A is against it from the start. They don't care what the scientists say because they don't trust them. And group B are lapdogs panting in hopes of a cookie. "It's the word 'vaccine'. That means it's safe. the end. Only crazy people say otherwise.

The truth is that the covid vaccines are probably safe, given all the studies and money going into them. But lets remember that they ARE brand new (even if borrowing partly off older vaccines already in testing)
and are being rushed out earlier than if a pandemic didn't exist.

There IS a long history of vaccine recalls due to side effects occurring that weren't identified in trial periods. People being a little alarmed at a vaccine being rushed out due to pandemic should not be equated with anti-vaxxers. It's a silly thing to suggest.

You could have tried to actually understand the context of my post, and if you did....you would realize that I just said the same thing you did.

Not sure how you said the same thing, as,"

with the comment, ...this is going to get messy, how do you get the same context from that.

It's in response to another poster who mentioned that it may get messy if we are required to show proof of vaccine before we can travel. I was simply responding to show that getting the vaccine doesn't necessarily stop the spread, and that things will get very messy for travel.

But hey, I'm all ears if you guys want to indulge me in your conspiracy theory crafting.

Do you not see the irony in your statement? This is literally what people are asking you to do to prevent the spread of covid and prevent the health risks of covid to yourself and others

The government is asking me to take a vaccine with unknown long term implications. That is a potential risk to my health. I can currently protect myself and others by wearing a mask in public, physically distancing and practicing good hygiene, which I have been doing for several months.

Oh I thought the length of time was do to seeing the long term effects of the drugs. My mistake.
