It says nothing about adverse effects to the female reproductive system. All their petition said is they don't have the data on the effects on pregnant women. Whichmakes sense considering the trial wouldn't include them.

From the article:

The vaccinations are expected to produce antibodies against spike proteins of SARS-CoV-2. However, spike proteins also contain syncytin-homologous proteins, which are essential for the formation of the placenta in mammals such as humans. It must be absolutely ruled out that a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 could trigger an immune reaction against syncytin-1, as otherwise infertility of indefinite duration could result in vaccinated women.

You can re-use them just as much as a cloth mask...if the idea is to protect other people ...then you can still use the surgical masks multiple times. They don't disintegrate after 8hrs or anything. People think cloth reusable is ok but not surgical...its basically the same thing. The virus will be on the outside of it on both...but one of them protects other people from your exhalations better...its all it is really.
cloth masks should be washed at the end of each day. Cant do that with the throwaways. Having said that I'll guarantee there are people that never wash them.

I can understand the hesitation to get a vaccine because of how quickly it has been developed. I guess the question is when you want to wait to see 'long term' effects, how long do you wait?

Then again you see a headline like this, and it makes you nervous:

CNN - The untold results of the COVID vaccine trials

The chances of getting sick for most people are so slim it’s not really worth the risk of the unknown.

Depending on the health condition of the individual they should decide if it’s worth it.
If I was 60-70 and had young grand kids, I would take it. If I’m over 80 and can’t get around well, I wouldn’t bother.

Believe me I don't want to get real old. I'm 65, my mom passed away last Januaey at 95. The last 5 years were a nightmare for her. Imagine having hallucinations and fears that are unfounded, but unlike a nightmare you don't wakeup. Just repeat day after day.

Around 25:11 talks about "side effects" of the vaccine; fauci says historically if there were any long term imact they are visible around 40 day mark or so.....

and at around 30:41 talks about "post covid syndrome" initial stats say around 25% to 30% who survive "covid" have lingering symptoms

P.S. Hate that song with passion

Whoops.....I guess they are fine with crippling the economy.

I haven't ever really paid attention to the details of what anti-vaxxers argue (the real anti-vaxxers who oppose all vaccinations).

But what I'm confused about is: if almost every Canadian gets the covid vaccine, and everyone's confident that the vaccinations actually work, then why would anybody care about those that choose not to get vaccinated? Aren't they a threat just to themselves? Why limit the freedom to "move around"?

It's not a rhetorical question. I genuinely don't know the reasoning.

There are many reasons

You need a certain percent of the population to be immunized and immune for a vaccine to work (ie keep disease burden low in a population). That's because the vaccine efficacy is not 100 percent and herd immunity helps with this (which is why we are seeing a rise in measles with decreased vaccination rates). So if your grandmother got the vaccine but did not develop immunity, she'd be safe if those around her are vaccinated and not carrying covid

Very young babies and people with immunodeficiencies cant be immunized because it's unsafe (with live vaccines) or they may not be able to mount the immune response needed to develop immunity. These people rely on those around them to be immunized and not spread the disease to them

So yah- part of getting vaccinated is to protect your own bacon and a part of it is being altruistic/a good human and protecting others

Speed of the vaccine: Grand Daddy time Vs Modern times

- around 20:25 ish

Wish we had someone like this in Canada explaining things instead of acting all smug like dr tan and other medical professionals that interview on cbc, ctv etc...

Yep...If you need a walker and live in a nursing home you probably don’t want to bother with it.

It's a baseless claim that has been debunked. It's literally impossible for it to trigger a reaction against syncytin-1

I'm not comparing the two.

But I think comparing China to North America in terms of pandemic response is a bit futile.

They took firm hard-line action.

We sometimes do...

When we feel like it, or when it's convenient - at an individual and state level.

Why even wonder why their economy is up and running?

We have anti-mask/pandemic control protests here.

Do you think the people of Wuhan were doing moronic stuff like that?

they literally locked people into their houses. Is that what you want here?

It's amazing what you can do without pesky problems like the rule of law, human rights or civil liberties getting in the way

I think the people of Wuhan we're to afraid to do anything because they might end up with a bullet in the brain from those people you so admire

I am not advocating for or against the vaccine, but they had a tonne of research to build from.

They have been trying to create a vaccine in the coronavirus family since SARS.

It was stalled quite a bit in Phase 3 but who knows if the extra resources and time put in helped them get past the hurdles.

There are quite of bit of research papers available online to read about the 20 year history
I understand these companies got data and research to build from but when it comes to trail, that takes time. Not just time to see if the test subjects(humans) can recover and also any side effects afterwards(years later). You just can’t speed that up.

That’s just wrong. The worst case scenario for people in China is an all expense paid education camp where they get to study, dance, and sing. Go to Google and search Uyghur.

Re: sterilization of women

From Snopes:

Claim:
The "head of Pfizer research" said the COVID-19 vaccine developed by the pharmaceutical company "is female sterilization."

Rating: False

And yet further down in the their “fact check”

“Yeadon and German physician Wolfgang Wodarg sent a letter to the European Medicines Agency, calling on EMA to halt clinical trials of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine in the European Union. In the letter, Wodarg and Yeadon stated that the Pfizer vaccine blocks a protein that is key in the formation of the placenta in mammals, and they claimed that it’s possible women who receive the vaccine could become infertile. However, they did not state as fact that the vaccine causes sterility, as the Health and Money News headline suggests.”

Did 'Head of Pfizer Research' Say COVID-19 Vaccine 'Is Female Sterilization'?

It's almost universal to all administrations that their appointed experts have massive conflicts of interest. Fauci is no different. He's effectively a salesman.

I ask: who fact checks the fact checkers? Snopes was founded by a couple of computer nerds with little expertise of anything other than making an internet site. It filled a cultural niche and blew the accepted way in the social wind so it has been allowed to continue. Every single topic answer is worked backwards from what is the most acceptable or least alarming answer within the current cultural climate.

Bang on. I can't believe people actually believe two nerds are omniscient Gods with the answers to everything.

Yes, but that's a baseless claim by Wodarg and Yeadon. See above.

Theres conspiracy theories everywhere and covid is no different. Get the vaccine or don't get it, up to the person. My one buddy thinks Wall Street and Canadian housing market is so rigged he won't invest any money (keeps cash only) and only rents. Ive long since given up discussing it with him and every once in a while he cries about how the stupid market is rewarding us for being sheep haha. I said I decided to buy a house years ago and invest money in the stock market. We each made our decisions but don't cry foul because you decided to believe your tin hat theories. In 2010 he decided YouTube and his tin foil were right but 10 years later he was wrong (so far) but cannot accept it and has dragged more tin foil theories in to explain why haha.

Whats funny is I know lots here will claim hes right but honestly I don't care. At the end of the day either the market went up and people made money or they kept cash and didnt. Theres no grey zone.
