Can someone explain to me why everyone is throwing a fit about the Daemon scene? I get that depictions of domestic violence are uncomfortable, but it's not like this was out of line with the character at all. Daemon is violent, impulsive, cruel, and reckless. He's a protagonist but he's by no means a "good guy". Even though it seems like marriage has mellowed him to some extent, we saw how violent he got just two episodes ago. He murdered Rhea Royce with a rock, he mutilated citizens of King's Landing in the City Watch, he killed that innocent Velaryon guard to frame Laenor's "death," and he murdered Vaemond in open court. He mowed down hundreds of soldiers (including his own men) with Caraxes in the stepstones.
And while he does love Rhaenyra, their relationship is not healthy and never was. He groomed her since she was a teenager and tried to use their relationship as a ploy to get himself closer to the throne.
He only knows how to solve problems with violence, and he clearly has a lot of masculine insecurity as we can see from his relationships with women like Misarya and Rhea. And he clearly is still sore about how Viserys never trusted him and never gave him approval. It makes total sense that he would lash out violently when his wife, who now holds power over him, hits an exposed nerve.
Daemon is not a role model, he's not a good guy. It's obvious he can't control his emotions. I understand how people can find an on-screen depiction of domestic abuse to be traumatizing or problematic, but Daemon is a problematic character who likes to traumatize people.
