I don't know why Jarnkrok is already out of the lineup, assuming it's injury related again? He needs to play and get up to speed if he's going to be a player in the playoffs.

And do what in the playoffs? I get it, not everyone is a scorer but we have too many players who do the same he does. Minimal production defensive forwards. You need more than a 0 0 0 stat line in a playoff series.

I mean I get it but he just needs to play now? Shake off the rust and whatever. Rotate some players, etc.

I'd keep McMann on L3 just to spread the scoring around - Tavares/Nylander should be able to score regardless of who is on the left side so I'll give them a defensively conscious winger in Jarnkrok

McMann - Laughton - Robertson should be an aggressive third line that has lots of speed with 2 players that have a scoring touch

L4 can be the line you bury in heavy d-zone starts

I would agree. Robertson adding speed and hustle to the 2nd or 3rd line is needed, not sure why Berube thinks Holmberg is a legit capable player. If we were down bad with injuries then sure, go for it... but we're not? Every coach has this weird obsession with a player or two.

Also the lines don't matter if they play like utter crap like they did last few games. Stuck in our zone 80% of the game is bad recipe for obvious reasons. They need to figure out their breakouts and transition play.

I don’t get the Holmberg hate. Are people actually watching the games in the last two weeks? He looks like a different player since the break and is playing really well.

I don't hate him at all, I just don't think he's been playing better than other options. He's also pretty limited in his abilities.

You’re betting on Robertson because you didn’t trade him, so let him do his thing in the middle six. Holmberg can play on the 4th line. Robertson has been pretty good lately, he has a legit weapon of a shot. Itll supply much needed secondary scoring in the playoffs and It’ll increase his off season trade value.

Or we can just keep a cheap player with value and stop trading for piccs that we end up trading for ufas we actually have to pay imagine filling our roster with cost control rfas like him and holmberg and signing impact forwards to complement the lines and actually build a team this off season is gonna be a big one for tre

Can't stand these lines.

Tavares-Nylander doesn't work well.

Laughton - Domi is a recipe for disaster.

Matthews-Marner need to be seperated to give the team more balance.

It's so frustrating that year after year, this team just can't find the right chemistry and we're messing around so close to the playoffs.

It's not surprising we're on a losing streak. The lines are the worst possible combinations and it's obvious to everyone but the coach.
The exact same thing has been said for the past 3 years… Pretty pathetic and concerning.

What up with these lines...

Somethings fishy is going on , and i dont mean those Swedish fish u get at Ikea , i mean those Swedish fish you get fermented in a can.

Ate them both, diffenrent ocations.

I really hate our lines.
Chief - please change and get 3 lines that can score and not be terrible defensively.

He has established himself as a person that does nothing of significance regarding lines and play. It's pretty basic.

would be good to see them even out the talent on our lines... something like:

Knies - Matthews - Domi
McMann - Tavares - Marner
Holmberg - Laughton - Nylander
Roberston - Kampf - Jarnkrok

Bottom six looks like it has negative chemistry. Don't love paying a 1st and the 3rd line still looks like a mishmash of whomever

I’d leave mcmann with nylander but yeah I agree with trying them on three different lines

Scapegoating?

I'm not Robertson homer but he doesn't have a 4th line game. Put freaking Holmberg there or something, who cares, anything to get that waste of space off the ice for as many minutes as possible.
Lol WTF??? I never said that quote.

Robertson-Matthews-Domi
Knies-Laughton-Nylander
McMann-Tavares-Marner

Just try it. Run 3 lines.

They don't know how. You know those piece puzzles for kids? That's how Berube works so the pieces always basically only fit in the same slots. He rotates them around trying to make odd pieces fit sometimes but moves on to the next slot in short order and then it goes right back where it was originally cut from

Love it but again, any line combination that has any of the big 4 on the 3rd line is a non-starter for any Maple Leafs coach.

I'm convinced they have it in the contract somewhere or it's just further proof of how those guys literally run the organization. In any event, until these guys are completely shot, and maybe not then either, it'll never happen.

Domi so badly needs to be scratched at the moment, as a wake up call if anything. The terrible soft play and high number of needless penalties needs to be addressed.

I also know I'm in the minority on this one... but I've liked Holmberg on L2. I think his board play works well with Tavares and there is underrated skill there. It's not a long-term solution though.

Knies-Matthews-Marner
Holmberg/Jarnkrok-Tavares-Nylander
Robertson-Laughton-McMann
Lorentz-Kampf-Jarnkrok/Holmberg

is what I want to see right now.

Not going to make everyone happy but thank god McMann is back with Tavares.

Tavares/McMann 5v5 over the last 2 years together:

TOI: 363 minutes
Goals For: 24
Goals Against: 10

71% is nice goal differential to have is it not?

Hopefully it works out well.
