Ah crap, I read this despite your descriptive spoiler tag lol. Oh well I actually don't mind spoilers much anyway.I am not prepared for the heartbreak of this episode. I don't even know how Rhaenyra manages to function after losing her father, daughter, and son back to back to back. Little Luke was my favorite of the kids. He was so cute. This episode is going to break me and I'm someone who already even knows what is coming.

I did see a little chatter here and there and I had a feeling this would happen. Pretty much confirmed but I guess this stems from when he takes out his little dragon in the preview.
In the book it's said that before he leaves he runs back to Rhaenyra for "one final hug" and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh f***ing kill me as well[/ISPOILER]
I’m a sucker for well executed war movies. This looks pretty promising even with Netflix having a lot of hit and miss movies.
Early buzz on this one from those who have already seen it at one of the recent film festivals is that the performances and war scenes are first rate. Supposed to be stellar in its rawness and emotion. Have heard many of its aerial combat sequences rival some of the best action from top gun maverick cinematography wise. Must see for me.
Sounds like a wonderful readI don't think the movie can approach the book because if they were true to the book, it will end up being one of the most brutal, graphic and depressing war movies of all time.
It's great. Sad but classic for a reason and well-written. Also pretty short - you could probably do it in a day or two. It made a big impression on me when I was pretty young. I totally recommend it and will still watch the movie simply because I'm curious how they approach it.Sounds like a wonderful read
It was. As noted above it’s a powerful book.Sounds like a wonderful read

I was mostly being a smart ass but I do enjoy war movies as well. The original description just reminded me of when my wife or one of her friends describes a “chick flick” that makes them cry and I go then WHY WATCH IT?!? (But I get it and I’m just trying to give her a hard time). It was. As noted above it’s a powerful book.
I saw that. I wasn’t shouting you down. It’s really a great read and if it could change the way teenage me thought about that topic it had to be doing something correctly. Definitely worthwhile to at least give the movie a chance.I was mostly being a smart ass but I do enjoy war movies as well. Stop yelling at me! I’ve been through a lot and I’m very emotionally fragile!I saw that. I wasn’t shouting you down. I've only seen parts of Westworld to date (partly to my fondness for watching Evan Rachel Wood's career evolve), but its following is well recognized in the sci-fi world and has generated a lot of critical acclaim since its inception. Chloe Grace Moretz who turned in a way better then usual performance in the absolutely bonkers crazy Shadow In the Cloud two years ago looks to be a pivotal player in this one. Premiered yesterday on Amazon Prime. Hearing good things about it early on. Like all things sci-fi, I'm sure there will be a pretty significant difference on opinion from critics and moviegoers alike on how good it actually is.

Austin Burke (who I have a lot of respect for as a reviewer) has seen the first four of six episodes released to him early commented that it looks fantastic for a tv series and that the special effects are all top rate praising the overall futuristic look of London. He does mention some confusion in understanding what is going on time-wise, but also credits great acting performances overall and calls it engaging. Hoping for the best here.I struggled with Westworld and had to give up during season 2. I understand the subtext approach but the story got lost for me too often.
The time jumps without context are the sort of choice that bothers me in this sort of genre storytelling. You don’t have to give me a subtitle but I shouldn’t have to work so hard on what is supposed to be background. I can follow Tenet or Inception but it’s like Nolan purposely tries to make it hard to watch. I guess it’s deigned it’s force multiple watches? I’ll give this show a chance as I agree it looks very good in thr snippets I’ve seen. Someday a good science fiction show or movie will just tell a fun story without having to insist on making statemts about the clouded nature of humanity’s future or a statement about how sophisticated the director is.Austin Burke (who I have a lot of respect for as a reviewer) has seen the first four of six episodes released to him early commented that it looks fantastic for a tv series and that the special effects are all top rate praising the overall futuristic look of London. Who hasn't struggled with Westworld? I think the point was to confuse people and slowly feed them the clues before eventually (last season+) outright spelling it out if you hadn't already read up or watched behind the scenes stuff.I struggled with Westworld and had to give up during season 2. I’m old enough to have enjoyed the original. A dystopian story about the perils of AI. In the mid 1970s it was novel. Today it’s obvious. Just tell a good story and move it along. If the slow burn is glacial it smells artificial or forced to me.Who hasn't struggled with Westworld? I liked just enough of it to stay in and it paid off but yes - far too self absorbed of a style when it makes it near impossible to follow along even if you're paying attention and studying the clues. As a friend of mine said - it's doing the LOST thing where they either didn't want people to know or they didn't know and were winging it all along. Frustrating when you like so much about what is being presented and it aggravates you all the same.
