I agree. I’d add that one flaw in my theory is that the injured player knows his own status and probably just shares it with his teammates.

If it were me I’d just say UBI, LBI, surgery or no and a very rough estimate on return and I’d just come out and say it rather than wait for the media to ask. Just first thing at the next presser. Just say “that’s it... and any changes we’ll let you know, and please no more questions about X player, we’ll update you.”
Unfortunately that would make far too much sense for this organIzation. They love the drama.

As far as gambling goes.

1. dont lay down money you arent willing to lose.
2. Just wait until the lineups come out if you worried about an injury. Anyone putting money on a Pens game for a week from now, probably has bigger issues that if Malkin is day to day or week to week.
The NBA and NFL both list each injury exactly and people really enjoy gambling and fantasy because of it. But hey the NHL can continue to be a 3rd tier sport.

I have no issue with the NHL being a third tier sport. What about being a tier one and two sport is attractive to you? NFL and NBA are insane, the coverage is insane, the media hype and off-court/field garbage is insane. Like, no. Hockey is a small sport with a dedicated following. It's an old-school culture and that's hard to find in the world today. I would like it to remain small and unheard of. Doesn't mean there doesn't need to be improvements, but I hate it when people lament that the NHL is not a major sport.

At least they didn't say he'd be out for the season. I think in the past when that's been the case they've fessed up.

there’s still time...remember Letang...he was coming back too and then suddenly weeks later, all of the sudden he’s out for the year...

Maybe the pens are like anything else. They believe they need trades for certain positions. If they come out and say a player is out for an extended period of time, some team you are working on a trade knows you are desperate. It's like dealing with a car salesman. If he knows you need a new car, he will sell you a piece of junk at a high price. If you say you are only looking, he knows you are not desperate. This is strictly business nothing personal. Leave the other team guessing, and they won't try to work you over. Nothing else matters from the perspective of a business owner.

I'd buy that if it was 1988 and we were swinging a trade with Edmonton. But you find me the bald-faced liar who could pretend the Pens aren't desperate with these injuries and I'll award them an Oscar on the spot.

Are you saying Zohorna is not going to solve our problems?

I am Jack’s utter dismay.

Was that the year when Letang had a stroke, or when he had a hole in his heart?

It's insane that typing that question isn't shitposting, it's an honest question.

no that was during the 2017 Cup run with his neck issue...one minute he’s out like week to week, and the next he was shelved for the year...

Who in their right mind does that, come on
Stuff like this and Ovechkin’s spear on Frederic are considered good ole fashioned hocket plays by those in charge of DOPS now.

While they preach about player safety and hand out majors and misconducts for clean, open ice hits, they let bull shit like this go on...
