I'm not sure that game can be hung all on the D. How many OZ pucks did the the Avs win? How many crisp play-based passes did the Avs complete? It looked to me like the whole team underperformed last night.

The defense is a big part of that. But they weren't sharp last night.

If the defense is sharp, they're taking good angles with good position, retrieving the puck, making good/solid outlet passes to the forwards or each other or they skate it up the ice themselves and sometimes the activate the rush when doing this. They're a big part of possession and transition.

all 12 of us who predicted the upcoming 4 game sweep deserve our own forum title

the kraken slapped the shit out of colorado. colorado dumpster dived for a goaltender once again and they found out what happens in the playoffs when you dumpster dive for goaltending and the officials do not give you a 2to1 PP to PK ratio. Kraken's 2nd goal was a pure swiss cheese softie and they never recovered.
A Gruabauer like goal

If only the Aves had 10 20 goal scorers. That would have been the difference maker.

I'm going to predict a 5-3 Colorado win in game 2. Grubauer is just not good enough to not let in less than 3.

Avs finally got enough of a scare after going down 2, they played much better afterwards.

We’ll see how the games in Seattle go. The Avs have been better away from Denver and from what I’ve read around here, the Kraken seem to struggle a bit at home. This is looking like it will be a close series.
When you let teams off mat like that your asking for trouble

No disrespect to the Kraken - I actually really like their brand of hockey - but I can see the Avs taking both in Seattle. A combination of nerves being in front of the home crowd and the Avs finally finding their game at the end of this one tonight will lead to a game 3 victory, and that confidence will carry over to a tightly contested game 4 win.

Avs are a dominant road team this year.

The Kraken also couldn't beat playoff teams in the 2nd half of the season and nearly took both in Colorado.

We'll see what happens but I think the Kraken once again show that they're no pushover while the Avs have trouble containing them.

I think it will continue to be an entertaining series, I just think the Avs take the next 2. MacKinnon hasn't buried any of his chances yet and that won't last long.

Credit where it's due - they've come out flying and given the Avs all they could handle for a good 4/6 periods at least.

Regular season doesn´t mean shit in the playoffs.

Maybe the Kraken struggle at home, maybe they come out on fire for their first ever playoff home-game and get the crowd going. Maybe the AVS are very good away, maybe not and they get spanked on Saturday.

This series is damn hard to read and predict, but highly entertaining. So you have to give credit to the Kraken so far.

imho, i don´t expect another tight game on saturday
