Kraken played a very good game, well structured and disciplined.

My team played the opposite. Not nearly good enough to win anything tonight.

Deserved win by Seattle. Simple as that.

Sucks, but that´s playoff hockey. :boredom:

6 out of 8 home-teams losing home-ice in game 1 is very strange. But that makes it even more spicy and interesting.

No the difference tonight was that the Kraken got great goaltending and the officiating did not make the Avs their honorary zebra and feed them ridiculous totals of PPs like they've done for years. Avs lost because they got outgoaltended and outplayed 5on5. Just as my keys to the series for a Kraken sweep implied Series Talk: - Colorado Avalanche (C1) Vs Seattle Kraken (WC1) | SEA Lead 1-0

Avs depth suffered severely the past 2 years, you have Rodridgues on PP lines for you. That is almost as bad as watching Logan Brown being fed PP minutes.
Very average goaltending from the Kraken. They limited the Aves to the outside shots.

The Aves weakness for the past five years has always been teams that play defense. Teams that forecheck and play defensively usually win 4 straight vs the Aves.

Last year the Aves faced the blues without a goalie, Edmonton who tried to get into a breakaway relay, and Tampa Bay who was injured after 3 deep runs at the cup.

This is the first time the Aves are facing a defensive checking team since Vegas. And we know how that ended.

It would help if they don't play cute and overpass the puck on a night they aren't getting bounces. Would love to see the bottom half of the lineup show signs of life and for 3/6 of our defenders to wake up.

So the Blues only lost because the greatest goalie of all time (and greatest idiot out there) was injured by his own teammate, Oilers with the greatest player of all time got into a breakaway relay and Tampa was "too injured"....oh, and the Aves just got lucky and went 16-4....

Okay. And this hot take after Game 1 of Round 1. Hit the panic button hard.

Even moreso because simple odds suggest that there's going to be at least one team, and probably at least two, who are going to lose Game 2 as well. There's going to be some teams facing very difficult questions in a day or two.

Still think Avs win this series, but it was fun watching them get outplayed all over the ice tonight after several Avs fans flooded the LA-Edm thread after last nights loss. And yes I'm fully aware Edm fans are doing the same in here lol.
To be honest those are embarassing and should happen in our board. Either way we own that loss since Avs got outplayed a good portion of the game and wasn't opportunistic enough to convert. Our team seemed like it was their 1st playoff appearance in the 1st period  I hope this loss is a wake up call that this won't be easy as most of us and analysts predicted.

Right. I really hope my team is not among them.

Avs just don't have that it factor this year. The season has just felt like crawling through mud.
Because we never have had a full lineup. Are we weaker than last year? Obviously on forwards, no question. Missing an entire top-6 line, a pretty good one at that. But the D-corps is still intact and Georgiev has shown this year he can be better than Kuemper. I'm not panicking yet, it will be a grind, but the Avs can still go to the distance.

Avs fans were making fun of their fans whining about the refs more than the actual team. Pretty sure 90% of Avs fans still expect Edmonton to win that series.

nah the Avs just stunk against an expansion team...just not the same team as last year
Does that mean anything considering Vegas went all the way to the finals?
