it's something you must consider but you can't fault him for being big, imagine not drafting Lindros because he was so much bigger then everyone else.

Maybe management will draft (late 1st + early 2nd) Gaucher and Nyman, or a player that's fallen in the draft and Warren, or whoever, guess we'll see, plenty of great options I'm sure, just love the package Schaefer brings and I honestly don't think he makes it to the late 2nd round pick.
If we miss on Schaefer, there's a few more players we can take who are similar, including Kaplan, Nyman, Hayes & Oskar Pettersson.

McConnell-Barker could be available at Edmonton's pick & if he is you take him before Schaefer.

With the playoffs he's having, maybe not. NHL teams like their big boys who produce in the PO.
I don't. I want player with higher potential. To me Schaffer scream like a poor Brett Leason who had a similar profile.

I want to aim for player with top potential not flavour of the month.

BMB is the worst skater in the draft, I can't see Hughes taking him and I have BMB as a ND because it's just so bad.

Leason and Schaefer don't have a similar profile.

Leason was 20 years old, Schaefer is 18 years old.

Schaefer D season: 66gp 32-26-58 12 gp 5-9-14
Leason D (as in his first year of eligibility) season: 68 gp 8-10-18 4gp 0-0-0

Even Leason D+1 was nowhere near Schaefer. He exploded in his D+2 like many skater do in the CHL.

Good to see many of our prospects do well in playoffs. A good playoff builds confidence and gives them extra development time. Guhle out in Edmonton. Roy lighting it up again for Sherbrooke with 14 points in 6 games. Kidney playing well. Even Trudeau has 6 points in 5 games. I had doubts we would sign him but having second thoughts now.

Schaefer put up 32g in 66 games & was being discussed as far back as February. It's just that he's put up more than a point per game in the playoffs which is rare for a draft eligible player.

He's been a two-way beast, so he's just back on the table for discussion.

He certainly fits the Smilanic/Heineman mould. I’d be hoping for someone with a little more upside, but I can see him being a target.

I can also see an argument that he’s the type of winger that Suzuki and Wright need, to be the first one on the forecheck to keep plays alive.

Same but I would be extremely surprised if he there at EDM pick
EP has Lorenz ranked mid-3rd now, as is Luca DBB.

Guys who can't skate have fallen into 3rd for guys, who can. Schaefer isn't ranked in top 3 rounds.

McConnell-Barker is 62.

Instead, Lund, Fisher, Sykora, Hamara, George have all moved into 2nd round.

Obviously, EP isn't a black book for scouting or anything, but I do thinks teams will look at skating first, so he might actually be there.

He needs power skating for sure.

I don't see top 6 upside in him. More Trevor Moen, I think.

Moen. Possibly the ugliest dude to ever lace them up. I liked him, dont get me wrong, he was a fine role player who was unfortunately overplayed by our coaches. Very good defensively, helped the Ducks win a cup. But hot damn! Poor guy looked like Freakshow from Harold and Kumar 1.
