Over the moon happy. Now We clearly have money for a RW UFA claim, but will we make one? I've got my fingers crossed for Pulkkinen. But either way, it's a great day to be a Flames fan! :yo:

Pavelec gets waived and Gaudreau gets signed to a great deal, Canadians are celebrating all across western Canada!

Sweet deal, leaves some meat on the bone for other future signings. More manageable cap = better team.

Speaking of bones, I'm guessing stangconv choked on a turkey bone when he saw this. :D

In the end Calgary held their ground and won. Managed to avoid having to make a massive payout considering the skillset involved. Considering the numbers he could put up that's a darn good deal for Calgary.

Johnny Gaudreau's 6-year extension includes a NTC in the final year. Player specifies 5 teams to which he can be traded. #Flames

Overpaid? Seriously?

Yes.

I said it was a fair deal and the range was correct but Johnny had no leverage other than sitting out. I'm sure brad could've held out for 6.5 or 6 but I'm guessing the PR hot he would've had wasn't worth the hassle or games missed.

He's worth what he signed for under the conditions he had.

Awesome deal, but it's not like Johnny got fleeced. It only buys up one RFA season, and he had no offersheet rights, so I think it's a solid payout for a guy in his position, even taking into account the fact that he's an elite player.

Also, fingers crossed he gets Stockholm syndrome and decides to re-sign in Calgary in 6 years.

Radio speculating that based on Johnny's tweet, that he was the one that decided to end the negotiations and sign. Agent likely wanted to hold out longer.

Johnny just wants to play

Agreed. The kid's a gamer and wants to be on the ice.

I don't think it's robbery. its gaudreau that didn't want to play the game. he signed what was fair so he could focus on hockey. he could have got 8 if he really wanted

Good deal for the Flames. Should probably fire his agent cause I bet this deal was on the table months ago. He didn't earn any extra money by sitting out training camp that's for sure.

It's all because I changed my avatar. Though I detect a little bit of begrudge in Johnny's message
