Damn, what changed? Feels like only 10 or so years ago the OHL was sort of a junior-style all around game skewing a little to offense, the WHL had more of a lunchpail grindy feel, and the QMJHL was where nobody played defense or cared about anything besides scoring.
yeah the path really has changed:

USHL: Most well rounded games focused on two way players
college: used to be where you go to finish your playing career. Now a legit path both for top picks wanting to play one or two years and for those who play 4 years.
International: Lots of players coming from overseas and not playing CHL
CHL: They just aren’t as strong anymore. Still plenty of players coming from there but not the lopsided contributions they once were.

Got ugly at the end. Cristall, Iginla & Szturc didn't play in the final few minutes.

Cristall was 1+2 on the night, but Kelowna loses 6-3. They gave up two SHGs

Cristall's snub from Canada is disappointing but understandable given the way Canada has structured their team recently. It's why Wilson was getting serious Olympic consideration. They seem to really buy into the, "We will have X number of scorers and Y number of grinders and our lines have to reflect traditional roles," line of thinking instead of trying to find spots for the best players. Cristall is in that tier right below the top talent Hockey Canada can throw out in their top six at the WJC but he's undoubtedly better than some of the other guys selected... he just doesn't fit those roles.

Sucks for Miro. Would have liked to see him get a chance on the international stage again. And a few writers had Suzdalev penciled in for a spot on Team Sweden given their lack of high end talent but it seems his lack of playing time really torpedoed his chances.

Not sure what's going on with Suzy. He hasn't been productive and his playing time has been decreasing and he did not play last game. Probably scratched, the way it's been trending. I hope it's just growing pains adjusting to the larger rink, more mature opposition, and new system. It would suck if a month+ in limbo and then getting sent overseas got into his head and caused him to regress.

That would be sad. But that is on him. Lots of mental hurdles to overcome as well as physical. Guys need to fight through that. Happens with many players. The good ones find a way to fight through it. Hopefully Sudz has that kind of fortitude and coaches to help him out.

Kelowna gives up yet another shorty (14th) :help:.

No assists given, but it looks like Cristall tipped it back out (overhead replay)
