Also, I feel like the Rangers still have room for improvement on D so it's nice to see some competence as well as the ability to get better

I miss firey David Quinn...

this should have been the reaction for that Kakko call

Fox because he is the best player on the ice every game
Igor because it was his best game this year and is starting to look like the guy in net last year
Panarin because of the 3 assists and because Strome missed 2 open nets

Honorable mention- Kakko, Bittetto and Lemmy

Happy to see that Libor did not mess up. He played better than I was expecting.

Beauty of a win. Kakko was on a mission! Listened on the radio and Maloney almost busted a nut when Miller made that play to leave bread with a great scoring chance. He also yelled at the ref on the radio for the Kakko call and it was the funniest shit.

You could just see that Shesterkin is playing with so much confidence. 2014-2015 Lundqvist was the last time I felt we had a goalie who could steal games for us.

Really good and enjoyable game. Rangers always seem to bring it better against better teams, but the prospective narrative that the distraction has been removed, the weight has been lifted and that this is a turning point moment where teammates stood up for one another is not without possible merit. I suppose we’ll find out. Couldn’t post much because I’m working like a mad man on a UX design project, but it was nice to see an overall solid effort. New unis look sharp.

Funny how the mood around here changes once we get an improvement from our top-6 and some stable goaltending

We easily should have 2, maybe even 3, more wins in the standings, but regardless, I'm happy to see this team finally coming together. Getting Chytil back will be a huge boost, but I like the balance of our lineup right now:

KZB is a tried and true first line. No further need to debate it, and it'll only get better once Mika gets back on track.

Panarin-Strome-Kakko was really effective tonight, and a lot of the changes Kakko has made in the last 4-5 games are really helping to drive that line. Kakko has been really good lately, and I'm glad people are starting to have a more favorable view of him. The worst player in the league nonsense was a ridiculous concept last year, and it took only 5 minutes of analysis to realize why.

Lafreniere-Howden-PDG has been hit or miss for me, but I've really liked PDG's game lately, and I wouldn't mind keeping him around beyond this year. Chytil obviously should slot back in here at 3C when healthy. Ideal scenario would be a Lafreniere-Chytil-Kravtsov sometime later this year, but for now it'll just be my fun line that I get a ton of mileage out of in NHL21

Lemieux-Rooney-Blackwell/Gauthier is an improvement on the 4th lines we've had in recent years. I think ideally you find a way to slot a guy like PDG down a line and form a solid checking line with some mix of PDG/Lemieux/Howden/Rooney/Blackwell/Gauthier. Depth is a good thing here, and I've liked a lot of those guys this season.

Keep starting Shesty.

Excellent post.

I went with Igor, Bitetto and Kakko. A lot of other guys could have substituted though--Trouba, Lindgren, Fox, Panarin, Strome all had big games. I liked Rooney, PDG, Miller, Buch and Lemieux a lot in this one too. No one played poorly really.

I had to put Bitetto in just because that 2nd goal was so f***ing unexpected and it was a great play. He's also been steady in the two games he played.

I just realized Carlson was playing today.... wow. Assumed he was on the covid list since I didn't see him

He also called the caps the leagues biggest whiners or something like that. It’s pathetic when the biggest guys in the the league are the also the biggest complainers.

Rangers played big n tall in your face hockey. Best game of the year so far. Best effort of the year so far. This was true for the entire team. Everyone finished their checks, closed gaps, and took away time and space. It was a no holds barred effort. From Di Giuseppe to Buchnevich and everyone in between, they played tall and pushed around a bigger team. Defensively they were great. Took away the Caps whole game plan. Laviolette likes to press the game play in the offensive zone. And the Rangers stifled their ability to do that with in your face hockey.

No doubt they were pumped up for this game. Doubt we will see this kind of effort every game, but it shows what's possible.

Again great effort from the boys up and down the lineup. Trouba's 9 blocked shots are a testament to that effort.

the ups with this team are fun, tons of talent, we look so much faster with a little confidence. loved the spine this team showed, caps wanted to be a bully and we didn't flinch. idno how wilson doesn't get called for that run on lindgren he took off from laguardia to make. kakko was awesome, you can see the confidence building. laf flashed too....he's coming. i like sliding him down a bit right now - looked like he was thinking too much in the top 6 trying to fit in instead of using instincts, plus better matchups - howden at c isn't ideal but still like it overall. igor looks better and better, like seeing him playing the puck more, such a weapon for him. teamwise i thought it was huge the way we played that 3rd. that was line after line giving the same effort, making smart plays. the goal not phasing them was awesome to see. i can't remember the last time a ranger team controlled the last min or 2 of a game up 1 like that. that was a real team playing together. and then defensively this has to be the 3rd pair going forward. how can you not love bitetto? how did it take this long to get him in? he's more than adequate there and you can see it through the tv how much he loves being here, how much the team loves him. not that i think there were any major issues before / involving tony, but its certainly been a distraction and maybe awkward at times. inserting a guy like bitetto who's older and brings that kinda enthusiasm is definitely a breath of fresh air - guy is so happy here and with this group and thats contagious. and then hajek looked very solid...the tools and hockey sense were there and he checked the box hes struggled with tonight playing a calm, steady game.
