Loved Sauer besides being more physically Imposing because of his size pretty similar.

Sauer did have more big hits, but I feel like the style and mindset is similar. He’s also more of the “support guy” for the more talented defender in Fox like Sauer was to McDonough

Poor Stu. Likable guy, but yikes. My only good memory of him is the line brawl vs NJ.

This is the first game in long time where I was completely confident in the Rangers defensive structure. They have been doing a much better of job of limiting shots and tonight they pretty much shut down a top offensive team. Defensemen all played well and the forwards were picking up their checks and playing a full sheet game. There is something very good happening here. A tip of the hat to Jacques Martin for some excellent work that is starting to pay off.
The defensive structure has been a revelation. Our opportunity and shot differentials have been so much better this year, and better than they have in a while.

. I agree though. Keep riding the top4 but it depends what you mean by 'long term'.

I'd want Robertson-Lundkvist next year as 3rd pair; 2022 version of Lindgren-Fox

long term is long term. If you have a top 4 like that? All those guys are going to play between 22 25 mins minimum. That only leaves about 10 mins for the third pair.

you want them playing those big mins because you are better when they’re on the ice

Lindgren prob the only exception but man does he step up in games like these.

I honestly wouldn’t spend much of anything on third pair guys.

I’d let Schneider and Robertson cook a while

I think lundkvist will be part of a major trade before next year starts IMO.

Until someone in that top 4 gets injured and Stu Bickel finds himself on the ice against Alex Ovechkin.

we wont be paying much for the 3rd pair because they will be on ELCs... thats the beauty in it.

Similar to Tampa, with Sergachev and Cernak

Sauer is Jim Morrison. You see his career on an endless upward trajectory because it was so short. In reality, most careers level off. You can never know what would have been.
So you think he couldn't get much higher?

that time OV tried to blast Sauer behind the net and just bounced off like he was a lint ball was especially thrilling after the previous playoffs when OV charged through Girardi in front of the net on his way to scoring a goal ...

They played every bit as good as Washington.

I am liking what I see out of this team, since ADA, it looks like they are coming together as a group.

Also, this game shows that with good goaltending they would have had a much better record than what they have now. Hopefully, the goalies were just rusty from a lack of preseason and such.
