It does seem like that doesn’t it?

Even the return that JT Miller got, who has been one of the NHL’s best forwards the last couple of years. I understand there was more at play with that deal but there was talk of teams not willing to pay premium for a top C.

Our players consistently get undervalued while it seems like average players on other teams get better returns.

Allvin saying the offers for Boeser were terrible while it being a sellers market is just another example. Someone make it make sense.
It makes sense why our players are undervalued

This team hasn’t been very good over all for the past decade

If Boeser's value around the league is so low, they must be able to sign him for a pretty good deal then. :sarcasm:

This is the completely circular logic in this. How can they basically shit talk Boeser at the post-TDL presser and then turn around and sign him to a richer offer. They just basically said the league doesn't think he has very high value.

True, but most successful companies have an unwritten rule ' Any employee who has data to back up their position has the same voice as any executive"
In theory yes, but corporate politics are very very real, especially when they are the guys employing you and signing your (huge) cheques. It doesn’t always apply.

Today is a prime example of how bad our previous and current management is. Somehow a much worse, older and expensive Luke Schenn is worth a lot more than when he was coveted all around the league. Watch Boeser get 7x7 from a team this summer and then when he's a pending UFA at 35 he'll get a first round pick.

Just logged and disappointed to learn there was no trades made?

What was the point of acruing cap space? Poolman LTIR trade etc.?

Didn’t sell anything. Kind of confused. Someone explain

Just saw Luke Schenn for a 2nd+4th and we got a 3rd before?

Beauvillier for a 2nd? We got a 5th lol.

Would love to see the pro scouting reports from other teams on Boeser since the Miller trade and if they match what we've been saying in the GDTs.

Might have factored into the purported low offers and likely are the same reasons why we're hesitant to sign him long term.
People miss the timing here.

He looked good until his concussion.

Damn, I actually totally forgot about this. They also spent most of the season doing piddly NHL/AHL maneuvering and shuffling guys around to accrue cap space.

I'm not sure what's worse this weekend. The cybertruck moving in across the street from me, the acute need for hemorrhoid medication this weekend in the worse way possible, or this deadline for the Canucks.

Basically "yeah, we suck, don't expect much inspite of moves made, but we still don't want to look like we gave up and get future assets back".

I'm almost certain Allvin is lying out of his teeth. It sounds so crazy, but there is almost 0 chance there wasn't any teams willing to put a 1st out there for Boeser.
if so, that's a very dumb lie. very easy for another team to expose him and cause huge credibility problems for allvin. another gm doesn't need to leak to the press. just tell boeser's agent.

I work in a corporate setting as a director (hopefully soon to be VP). Our C-Suite allows all employees to challenges their views as long as they have the data to back it up. I would say we have a very progressive culture tho.

i mean, you want management team to prep themselves this way to be able to make moves if there is the right opportunity. having done the prep work doesn't mean you HAVE to make moves just for the sake of doing it.

Oh they have a directive. Ownership wants 2 playoff games at all costs.

I find this statement odd since they obviously don't want playoff games "at all costs" since they did not even try to improve their chance at the playoffs. If they'd moved a 1st rounder or something, that direction would be clear.

They are probably still, at best, 50-50 chances at the playoffs, if their chances are even that good based on recent performance.

You work at a good place. I’m similarly a director (also looking to move up) and have been in some shitshows with terrible CEOs. Though I’ve been in startups and have found it’s a lot more common

Was it ever asked whether the Canucks were willing to retain $ on Boeser's contract?

There was a report that they were, but it might have been bullshit. At this point how can you not question everything? This feels worse than what Dim Jim did with Hamhuis.

No other teams have any reason to expose him, he didn't call anyone out by name. I just refuse to believe with what this year's trade deadline prices have been, that no one offered a 1st. Just unbelievable outright.

Not sure why we care if Utah, Calgary and St. Louis are selling or not. Who cares.

To not get anything for Suter just feels confusing. I don’t think Boeser ages well either so can’t wait to be strapped to that contract moving forward. Find it hard to believe teams weren’t offering a 1st looking at other trades. Did nothing with all the cap space too.

Feels like we’re stuck in no man’s land again. This summer better be huge.
