I touted Hayton to go to Habs in the KK draft. Saw him a ton in junior and liked him.

Expected more by this point but playing in ‘Zona couldn’t have been good.

He seems to be doing better in Utah and would be an OK 2C who I think would thrive in Habs’ hockey environs.

As someone posted in another thread, Sam Bennett (!!!) but Hayton wouldn’t cost as much/seems realistic.

On the other hand, the management is on record saying that this upcoming offseason is going to be very important, so it's not unreasonable to expect that they're going to pull every lever to pry that top 6 center. I wonder if we might see a player/prospect moved that will shock us.

Same. Gotta give to get. Other teams won’t give us their good centers for magic beans picks + Mailloux. I could see them exploring the trade value of Slaf or Guhle to get us a strong 1-2 punch down the middle. Especially Guhle with his injury history.

I wonder what kind of center we could get for a package built around either Slaf/Guhle, with adds-on like Beck/Kapanen/Mailloux/1 of our 2 1st.
