Pettersson and maybe Truscutt yes but it doesn’t sound like the organization thinks much of Jurmo and he might not be signed, Rathbone probably isn’t long for the organization, and Kudryatsev is a very young, very minor prospect.

Hirose is a beautiful skater and I wouldn’t mind giving him a look.
I personally like Hirose more than Livingstone, even though Canucks probably need Livingstone more.

It feels great that we’re getting our targets and are actually a desired landing spot. Gotta give it up to new management for killing it recently.
I think the AHL development is huge. Players looking at opportunities to work with the Sedins everyday with big ol eyes

Really need to know what the salary cap will be next year. If it only goes up 1m we likely need two lose two high money contracts. If it goes up by 4-5 like it kind of sounds like now we could get by with only getting rid of one. The easiest way could be telling OEL to get f***ed with a buyout and just deal with 8 years of dead cap, only years 3 and 4 suck that way. Or threaten him with a buyout and he accept a trade to any team with retention would be the best option with only 4 years of dead cap

For this organization, it seems like they value skating for dmen above anything else
I've never watched him but his skating, positioning and passing are supposed to be excellent. That's a way better starting point for projecting an NHL player than size or what side they play. I'm excited to see him in a few games this season.

Yes to Gavrikov but big question marks about Barbashev as a centre who does not seem to have good defensive numbers and is terrible at faceoffs.

Who will play RHD? Would Schenn come back? Seems to have not enjoyed the TDL this year.

Toronto has f***ed him up
He should be playing everygame instead of whatever science experiment keefe is running

Gavrikov is a stud and I’m very hopeful the Canucks get him…. Would just take such a below average defense for so many years and between him and Hronek just solidify everything.

P.s the Scott Young hiring starting to pay off in the college scene. Signing two very coveted NCAA free agents is very impressive. The Canucks used to get 1 half decent guy every 3-4 years. Getting two of the top players in 1 year is very impressive…

Just thinking out loud here.

Get rid Boeser and Myers.

Kuzmenko Pettersson Beauvilliar
Di Giuseppe Miller Hoglander
Podkolzin Barbashev Mikheyev
Joshua Aman Garland

Hughes Bear
Gravikov Hronek
OEL Burroughs

Demko
Delia

Didn't calculate cap but that's gotta at least be a team that compete for a wildcard.

The addition of Gavrikov, Hronek and a couple of college UFAs while retaining Bear could actually make this an above average NHL defence, although largely because Hughes has emerged as a legitimate star.

I think Mikheyev and Garland have to go on the 2nd line.

I feel pretty confident in Di Giuseppe playing at a playable level on the 3rd line next year, and I guess you kinda have to hope that Hoglander/Podkolzin/Kravtsov/whoever take enough of a forward step in training camp to give them a role.

As they should.

They can find size/grit elements through UFA/trade quite easily. Skating defenseman that can play meaningful minutes are probably the hardest archetype to acquire right now.

I could see them buying out OEL and keeping Myers for the last year of his contract since we haven’t targeted any RHD college FAs and seem to be keen on a LHD in UFA this summer. Something like

Hughes - Bear/Hronek
Gavrikov - Hronek/Bear
Wolanin/Brisebois - Myers
College FA - Burroughs

Schenn wasn't very good here since Christmas. I assume that is just continuing in Toronto?
He has been alright.. he should be playing 2 rest 1

I would hope they look at a carolina model for how their 3rd and 4th lines have to consistently play

I dont PDG would have any less success playing martinooks role in that type of system

Depending on style PDG can be a very effective bottom liner

You don't buy out a guy who has that gleam in his eye!

But seriously, when Tocchet made that comment, have to imagine it came straight from management. They're going to trot him out next year and see if they can salvage the situation.

I suppose I could see something like:

Hughes - Bear
Gavrikov - Hronek
Gleam - Schenn

With Hirose, Brisebois, Wolanin, Juulsen, Rathbone, and Woo waiting in the wings (and providing a pretty excellent D-Corps for the Baby Canucks.)

Sides aside (lol) I'd rather see any of Brisebois, Wolanin, Juulsen play then Gleam. Even if it was a part time thing, sometimes one of the three plays, sometimes it's oel.
