Sides aside (lol) I'd rather see any of Brisebois, Wolanin, Juulsen play then Gleam. Even if it was a part time thing, sometimes one of the three plays, sometimes it's oel.
I'd be fine with a rotation as well, though I do think the sides matter. This depends of course on OEL recovering from his injuries and his sucktitude, and Myers being launched into the sun somehow.

In general I would far rather see Wolanin in the bottom LD position than OEL, but the cost of removing OEL seems pretty substantial.

Wonder if they re-visit an OEL/Hughes pairing.

Hughes can turn anyone into a better player, so lets really test it out.

Yes to Gavrikov but big question marks about Barbashev as a centre who does not seem to have good defensive numbers and is terrible at faceoffs.

Who will play RHD? Would Schenn come back? Seems to have not enjoyed the TDL this year.
Gavrikov wife already likes LA and established good relationship with other players families.

I will not be surprised if he will sign contract with Kings before free agency will start.

No one here thought Gavrikov was a realistic possibility.

It is being pushed by agents & also occasionally the organization’s mouthpiece Rick Dhaliwal that Gavrikov is a guy to watch for.

Whether it’s Milstein leveraging outside interest (we have seen this happen before with Brenden Dillon who proceeded to sign a day after he went on air with RD and stated he would love to return home) or it’s genuine - who knows.

But someone is feeding RD here. The extent of why will be found out later. For now, it’s a worthy discussion

I've been banging a Gavrikov drum since last off-season. So that's not entirely true.

What?

Many here have already pencilled him in lol. Tons of people not only think it’s realistic but it’s expected.

I don’t like to predict UFAs but it’s worth noting that LA will have virtually zero cap space once they extend their RFAs (especially Vilardi) and sort their goaltending situation. And there aren’t really many obvious players to cap dump.

They’re more likely to start with Hughes Myers if they can’t dump Myers. I’d bet that they’ll try to make OEL-Hronek work from day 1.

I think people had him as a target, not as a “this is a guy we expect there to be mutual interest from relative to other destinations”

I have it on good authority that he does not want to stay in LA. He wants to play in Canada

So hirose already signed

He’s decent for Mankato.
I just keep seeing different news reports saying he's trending, moving, or leaning toward signing here, or doing all three at once, or talking about what direction he's going and how quickly.

-has seen agents with many clients in one organization before
-mentions Newport having 5 or 6 clients on a team
-has never heard of an NHL team never signing a player due to an agency
-has been told that Hirose to Vancouver is the most likely scenario and could end up there this week
-teams have been very aggressive chasing players
-had one Canuck player, someone who has been there for a while, told him that the rumours were never ending
-doesn't believe the Sharks want a long-term rebuild
-says the three reasons the Canucks are going well right now is 1) Demko is healthy 2) deadline is over and they can focus and 3) players really like Tocchet

Why would Gavrikov not be a realistic possibility given the relationship with DM??

RD who’s extremely plugged in with DM says Gavrikov is a realistic possibility. But we should listen to you though right??

Akito Hirose announcement expected soon.

Wonder where Livingstone ends up. It would still be very much needed for us to grab a free RHD prospect

I think there is a real chance (>50%) the Canucks make the playoffs if they do not have OEL or Myers on the roster next season. Bench 'em, scratch 'em, disappear 'em, whatever. Regardless of AAV, they are net negatives.

Run Wolanin or Burroughs or whoever on the bottom-pair.

Hughes - Bear
_______ - Hronek
Not OEL - Not Myers

If that blank is Gavrikov, Graves, or even Holl, I actually somewhat like the blueline. Throw in a Clifton, and I might say it's Actually Good.

They’re more likely to start with Hughes Myers if they can’t dump Myers. I’d bet that they’ll try to make OEL-Hronek work from day 1.
If they are serious about wanting to make the playoffs, neither OEL nor Myers can be on the roster.

The forward group as long as you get Gaudreau or Compher in free agency. Should not need much work if any. I expect only one of Boeser or Garland back so their cap hit will likely match Compher or Gaudreau so they will basically offset. The defence to me could go so many different ways.

Kuzemenko-Pettersson-Beauvillier
Garland/Boeser- Miller- open spot
Mikheyev- Gaudreau/Compher- Podkolzin(open for training camp competition)

Everyone has Pearson on litr…not convinced that will be the case. He would slot into the 3rd line LW spot and Mikheyev was brought here to play in the top six. Although both are playing better I feel both Garland and Boeser need to go to free up money.

Apart from Gaudreau I also like Christian Fisher who will be an restricted free agent. Would be a nice fit in the bottom six.

Beau - Petterson - Kuzmenko
LW - Miller - Mikheyev
Pearson - Gaudreau - Fisher
Joshua - Aman - Podkolzin
PDG

Maybe McD slots in beside Miller, we’ll see.
